Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Is Szechenyi Spa and Baths open on November 10-12? If so, is the half day option available?

    • Dear Malou,

Szechenyi Baths will be open as usual on the mentioned dates. For current opening hours, visit: Opening Hours.

There are some part time / part day options where the chosen ticket type regulates the entry range. We have sent you more details via email.

      • Hi
Could you send me details of how to book the early morning tickets please?
        For 3rd or 4th November
        Thank you

        • Dear Amanda,

Please find our discount and good morning ticket information.
          Szechenyi Bath relatively value prices:

          ‘Good Morning’ Ticket
We believe that the best value option for your preferences would probably be the entry type called “Good morning” ticket that is sold on the spot: you can only buy them offline, at the cashier between 7 am and 9 am every weekday (from Monday to Thursday).
Price (Mon – Thu) HUF 10,000 (kindly double check the price at the cashier), Payment in HUF by card. 14+ only
Price (Fri) HUF 11,200 (kindly double check the price at the cashier), Payment in HUF by card. 14+ only

In other words this value ticket is not available for purchase after 9 am or between Sat and Sun. If your trip is for the weekend (Sat – Sun), the cheapest option is to buy a ticket with a locker, also on the spot.

Please do note that the Morning Fast Track ticket (a higher priced skip the line option) is not the same as the Good Morning ticket.

  5. Hi. I’m visiting Budapest 28-31st and was wondering which bath is the best to book for the best experience please ? there will be two 16yr old boys with us

    • Dear Tracy,

Thank you for your message and your interest in the Budapest baths.

For families, we recommend the following family-friendly baths during the colder season. These baths are better suited for younger visitors due to their pools and amenities geared towards families.

Palatinus Bath – A great option with outdoor and indoor pools and family amenities on Margaret Island in the heart of Budapest. Excellent value. Best option from late May to early October, but open during the winter months (outdoor thermal pool is connected via a heated corridor). Note: rental services not available, best to bring your own towel and swimwear as the bath shops may or may not have these items on sale.

Csillaghegy Bath – A spacious and modern complex ideal for families with children off city centre. Indoor pools are open in winter too. The location is off the city centre of Budapest.

In the winter months, we would particularly suggest Aquaworld if you wish to offer traditional water fun elements to your trip, e.g. chutes, slides, etc. and if you have a more spacious indoor / outdoor aqua theme park with multiple pools and slides in mind. The location is off the city centre of Budapest.

Kindly note that starting from August 1st, children under the age of 14 will not be permitted to enter the Szechenyi Thermal Baths (Rudas and Lukács Bath do not accept children either). This restriction applies to the entire facility, not just specific pools or areas.

  6. Hi!
