Can I Go to Szechenyi Spa Baths with my Spouse? – Szechenyi Bath FAQ

Couples understandably wish to visit Szechenyi Baths together, so for them it is a crucial question if they are allowed to enter the baths together and spend some valuable time in the same bath sections and pools.

Szechenyi Bath Coed

‘Can I Go to Szechenyi Baths with my Spouse?’

Yes, you can, all the time, all days. Szechenyi Baths is mixed from Monday to Sunday, from early morning to the final closing hours. The coed bath can get really romantic after sunset, when you may have a chance to stargaze from the outdoor thermal baths (open in cold, rainy or snowy weather too!). Mind you, opening hours may change over the year, depending on seasonality. After 6 or 7 pm, only a couple of pools are open (most thermal indoor pools, saunas, massage services, etc. are closed earlier)

What is more, you can even buy bath entries with cabin use, which means that you can get changed privately in the same little cubicle (also store your belongings in the ‘cabin’). Mind you, the cabins have not been designed for prolonged stay and are tiny for 2 people, but you can take turns to get changed if you find the cubicle too small.

At Gellert Baths, you can even hire a smallish thermal bath privately for just the two of you, with a glass of sparkling wine. Of course, this special treat comes at a special price (i.e. it is not cheap to rent your own thermal baths), but it can be romantic and peaceful to have some time privately. When the private bath opened its gates in 1918 the room was considered to be spacious. With today’s standards, it is more like a historical bathroom with a larger thermal bath suitable for 2.

Rudas Bath – Women Only or Men Only Days

Currently the only thermal bath that offers gender specific (women only or men only) days is Rudas Thermal Bath, which also boasts two unique spa baths, one on the rooftop offering a scenic overview of the Danube in Budapest and one that dates back to the Ottoman Turkish times in the Middle Ages, with its mystical atmosphere and historical octagonal shape. The weekends are always mixed gender / co-ed, but weekdays accommodate for gender specific selective days, ladies only or gents only. Please note that Rudas Bath is strictly for over 14 teens, under 14 children are not allowed to visit the baths.

      Hello Sophie,

      thank you for your email.

One ticket with a locker and one ticket with a cabin is a good idea.
The cabin comfortably accommodates one person, so if you are a couple it might seem a bit tight, but you can take turns in getting changed (of course, the same applies to families or smaller groups too).
