Is There a Refund at Szechenyi Baths? – Szechenyi Bath FAQ

When you buy your bath entry to Szechenyi Bath, either online or at the cashier on the spot, please kindly note that there is no refund for tickets purchased.

Older travel books and outdated Budapest travel guides or old forum threads may confuse some tourists regarding the tickets, stays and refunds.

True, there used to be a refund system at Szechenyi Baths, but the former, hourly based, refund system is no longer in use. So if you buy a full time ticket but only spend 2-4 hours at the baths, you will not be refunded anything.

Instead of the old refund system at Szechenyi Spa Baths, there are – most of the year – various tickets that can reduce your costs, e.g. morning tickets or evening tickets as an alternative to full day tickets (these options are not necessarily always available).

Buying the full day ticket is a good investment we think, as the baths and pools, the massage therapies, etc. are really relaxing, and you deserve a perfectly lovely way to spend a full afternoon or a day in one of the most popular thermal baths in Budapest. If you want to enhance the bath experience, you may wish to consider to buy a package that provides access to the exclusive rooftop relaxation area. The canteen at the baths provides a limited range of hot and cold dishes in a self service style restaurant, as well as a wide range of drinks (alcoholic drinks and refreshments too).

If, for any reason, you think you wish to claim a refund, please always contact the issuer of the ticket: this means that the email confirmation, the QR code etc. will have been sent to your email address, which came along with the information about the customer service.

As there are multiple websites offering the thermal bath tickets in Szechenyi Bath, please be aware that you need to contact the vendor the ticket was sent from, whether it was a third party, an affiliate website or the official bath. Some bath tickets offer an insurance policy or last minute cancellation policy, while others do not. Please kindly check the Terms and Conditions if you wish to have a peace of mind with regard to the cancellation policy of thermal bath entries in Budapest.

  1. Hello!
Is towel rental possible again or this is still not available (suspended due to covid) Thanks!

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Dear Irina,
Thank you for checking before visiting.
We recommend bringing your own towels, as rental services are suspended since the Covid pandemic.
You can purchase a towel on the spot: the fluffy towel makes a nice gift and serves as a keepsake towel embroidered with the Szechenyi Bath logo for HUF 6,000.
Alternatively, you can purchase a disposable towel at a fraction of the cost. For environmental reasons, as part of green tourism, we kindly ask you to consider bringing your own lightweight towel. Microfibre towels are reusable, super absorbing and ultra lightweight, suitable for carrying around the city.

Please note that slippers/flip-flops are also required to be worn.

  2. Hello !

Can I have a way to contact the customer service, please ? I can’t find any way to contact the place.

I bought my tickets through OTP Mobil and received payment confirmation, but on the day (Saturday 6th of January), the person at the reception told me they never received the money. I had to buy new tickets, while waiting 3 days for my reimbursement (that still haven’t happened) and would have to contact the customer service otherwise. How can I get my money back ? I paid twice (once online, once on site).

    Thank you,
