Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.

Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.
Szechenyi Spa & Baths on Budapest Tourist Map

Good morning,
My wife and I are travelling to Budapest on the 4 – 8 December this year. We intend to visit at least one of these days to the very famous baths. Is there something more private that we can book. Can you provide options and costs please. Thank you in advance – Peter & Juanita (AUSTRALIA).
Dear Peter,
Thank you very much for your message and your interest in visiting the Budapest baths.
Private Rooms (max 4 hours) – Szechenyi Bath
At Széchenyi Bath, there is a private room (without a pool) available for hire for a 4-hour period, offering comfort and privacy before or after enjoying the thermal pools. Please note, however, that all pools are communal and the bath is often lively and crowded, being one of the most popular attractions in Europe. This option is available under the name Private Spa. To clarify, this option is only more intimate in the private room (like a small hotel room) for the 4 hour period, any other services in the spa baths are shared and available to all guests. If you wish to find out more about this package, kindly let us know.
Quieter Times (possibly) at Szechenyi Bath
For a more intimate and tranquil experience, we generally do not recommend Széchenyi Bath, except during quieter times (which can be somewhat unpredictable). Due to the high demand in tourism, most thermal baths in Budapest tend to be busy throughout the day. To enjoy a more peaceful atmosphere, we suggest visiting early in the morning (between 7 am and 9.30 am – depending on opening hours), or – in the case of Széchenyi Bath – after 6:30 PM on Fridays, when it remains open until 9:30 PM. This may or may not be quieter as weekends are generally busier while weekdays are potentially more quiet.
