The Opening Hours of Szechenyi Baths follow the seasons and keep changing throughout the year. That being said, the range from 9.00 – 19.00 (9 am – 7 pm) is 99.9% that it is open, including the open air facilities (the 3 outdoor pools, as well as the indoor facilities (15 indoor pools, steam rooms, saunas, massage parlours, beauty salon, aqua fitness & balneal treatment / balneotherapy, etc.). Please note that from 1 August 2025, entry to Szechenyi bath is permitted for guests aged 14+. We suggest visiting Palatinus Bath in the summer and Palatinus or Csillaghegy in colder months.
Out of the 18 pools in Szechenyi Bath, 3 pools are open air, while 15 pools are indoor. The outdoor and indoor areas have different opening hours
Kindly note that the Palm House/Dayspalm will close at 2 pm on Oct 23.
Kindly note that the outdoor swimming pool(lap pool) will be closed for autumn maintenance from Oct 8 to Oct 23, 2026.
The Szechenyi Bath will open at 8:00 am on the following special dates: October 23–25, 2026, and December 18, 2026, to January 6, 2027.
When is Szechenyi Bath Open?
- Mon- Thur: 7 am to 8 pm Last entry for convenience: 2h before closing time
- Fri 7 am to 10 pm
- Sat-Sun: 8 am to 8 pm Last entry for convenience: 2h before closing time
- Saunas and Steam rooms: from 7 am to 7.40 pm every day (Fri longer hours in 2025 summer: closing at 9.40 pm)
- Palm House: Mon-Wed: 9 am to 6 pm and Thu-Sun: 9 am to 7 pm.
- Check-in for the online bookings: minimum 2 hours before closing time, possibly 3 hours in order to enjoy the bath facilities in a convenient way. Shorter bath visits are less likely to be satisfactory or ‘enough’. Note: in festive periods Szechenyi Baths tends to run full house with waiting time of approx. 30-60 minutes. For a more relaxed bath experience we suggest taking a look at alternative baths like Rudas Bath or Lukacs Bath which tend to have calmer, less busy pools and bath facilities as well as shorter waiting times on special holidays (e.g. Christmas or New Year).

If your Budapest break falls on a public holiday in Hungary, do not despair, Szechenyi Furdo is open even on holidays. Please check the current opening hours for the upcoming public holidays, March 15, Easter, August 20, October 23, November 1, Christmas and New Year times before your planned Budapest visit).

December 24 – Dec 24 is a semi bank holiday for Hungarians: life usually stops in the city around 3-4 pm as this day is the traditional ‘boxing day’ in Hungary, when families visit each other, stand and sing around the Christmas tree, have a festive dinner of fish soup, beigli, etc., and give each other Christmas presents). My wife and I are looking at getting the Palm House package. When i was buying the tickets it says it opens at 10 but on this page it says 9. What is the official time? Also, if it is 10 can we show up earlier and use the other pools before it opens?

The official opening hours for the Palm House are as follows:
Monday to Wednesday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Thursday to Sunday: 9:00 am – 7:00 pm
Open until 4 pm on Dec 3, until 6 pm on Dec 6, and until 5 pm on Dec 13, 2024.
With a Palm House ticket, you can access all pool areas, during the regular opening hours of the baths(Mon-Fri: 7:00 am- 7:30 pm, Sat-Sun 8:00 – 7:30 pm)

Szechenyi Thermal bath house will be open during the Christmas season. On festive days (Dec 24 – 26, Dec 31 and Jan 1) we expect that the opening hours will be slightly shorter.
To reserve the day the booking calendars for thermal baths in Budapest will release the dates approx. 30 days before the December festive dates.
