Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.

Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

Hi there, I noticed that fast track entries and cabins cannot he booked for the festive period. However, I saw that you could buy tickets on this website: ticket.budapestgyogyfurdoi Just wondering whether these tickets are valid for entry to the Szechenyi Baths during the festive period?
Thank you!
Dear Anna, thank you for contacting us. Yes, indeed, valid standard tickets can be purchased with a locker via that official sales channel.
Wishing you a lovely festive stay in Budapest in December!
Hi I wonder if you can help me I’m coming in feb and my tour operator which I booked 2 tickets with said I will will get a private cabin where I can enjoy the spa however from reading this it seems to state it’s a cabin to change in I would like a private experience spa or something please can you confirm what I’m getting my tickets say skip queue entrance to s baths with cabin?and if it is just use of cabin to change where can I upgrade to having a private experience?
Hello Anita, the cabin in Budapest’s thermal baths refers to a changing room, comfortable for one person to get changed and use it as a storage room, lockable with your chip-equipped wrist band, received upon arrival. The bath is enjoyed by 1000-3000 guests on a daily basis, so despite the gigantic size (18 pools, various rooms, saunas, gym, etc.) there is no perfectly ‘private experience’.
Private options in the baths
Alternatively, there are some rooms bookable for a few hours for a private use, where you can withdraw to relax, read, etc. The ensuite single bed or double bed rooms are available from HUF 29,900 for a maximum of 4 hours stay.
Besides, the rooftop lounge area is only accessible for those who buy the extra ticket to access, so this is a space that would perhaps provide a quieter, somewhat private experience (still shared with others but not so many other guests, so it is more relaxing).
Enjoy your stay in the baths in February.
Hi, we are visiting the bath in January and it is not clear if towel included in the bath ticket, or only in massage packages?
Can you rent a towel at the bath? Or can you buy them?
Dear Leyla,
Thank you for your comment. Bath entry tickets include cabin or locker (and with optional massage therapies) only.
Please see the rental prices below:
Simple Bath Sheet: HUF 1000 (deposit HUF 1,000)
Towel (a bit smaller, but thicker and fluffier than the bath sheet): HUF 2,000 (deposit HUF 2,000)
Rental services are available with payments on the spot (unfortunately, we cannot reserve them in advance). The rental facility accepts cash (in Hungarian Forints) and card payments for the rental and deposit. Please note that the deposit will be given back in cash.
Option to buy towels: https://szechenyibath.com/szechenyi-bath-kit-towel-entry/
Package 3, 4 and 5 includes Fast Track Entry tickets as well.

Hello Bath,
I want to know how can you buy the cheapest ticket in bath. I think I buy a Budapest card and it give 20% right?
Do you give disconts to international students? Is it cheaper than the Budapest card discont fee?
Sorry the price list is very confusing.
Dear Miguel,
Unfortunately, student discounts are not available at the Baths. If you want to be on a super budget, we would suggest buying a Budapest Card, which includes a free visit to Lukacs Baths (and a 20% discount on the full price tickets in Szechenyi Baths), free public transport and a range of free museum entries, free cave tour, etc. More: http://budapestcards.com/
Budapest Card discount applies only on tickets bought upon arrival.
