Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.

Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

Tania
Dear Tania,
The currently planned opening hours on 26th December, 2019 are between 6 am and 10 pm. In case you wish to purchase tickets for that day we kindly ask you to go to the bath because online Fast Track Tickets are not sold during the upcoming holiday season (between 24 Dec and 7 Jan) due to a managerial decision. Hello, i want to book for therme spa at 29 of december.
Hi, I am looking to visit in a large group of 10 on the 1st January but can’t pre-book online. If you can’t book online, what would you suggest we do/ what time to arrive on 1st as we really want to visit during our trip to Budapest. Also, if we arrive on the day are we purchasing a full day access ticket or a specified time ticket.
Thanks
Hello could you please confirm the opening hours of your indoor pools?
Hello Becky,
Thank you for your question. Normally, the indoor pools are open from 6 am until 10 pm (visitors need to leave the pools by 9.45pm). For further details of the opening hours please follow this link: https://szechenyibath.com/open/
In some occasions there might be a private booking for one of the pools (rented for private use or for filming etc.) but the rest of the pools are accessible.
The 15 indoor pools on most days close at 9.45 pm as do the 3 outdoor pools.
Have a great baths experience in Budapest!
Hello, can i take my 8 months old baby to your thermal bath?
Hello Monika, yes you can visit the baths with the baby, as long as the baby is away from the pool areas. Admission is free of charge for kids under the age of 2, so an extra ticket will not be needed. Please note that babies cannot use the thermal pools in swim nappies either, unfortunately.
If you are looking for a baby friendly pool experience in Budapest we recommend an aquapark where there is a special baby pool for the little ones to splash around happily: Aquaworld is the name of the wellness resort and water themed park.
