You can reserve your online bath tickets in Hungarian Forint (HUF for short) to Széchenyi Thermal Bath to use the QR-enabled expedited check-in service for a smoother arrival experience. The QR codes are to be redeemed upon entrance: instead of a paper voucher you will be given a waterproof silicon wrist band with a built in chip equipped ‘watch’ which opens and closes the locks (of lockers and cabins alike).
HUF price list is available on the following page: Széchenyi Baths prices. The page shows a combination of EUR and HUF pricing depending on the type of ticket you wish to buy. Typically online tickets are priced in Euro. Most Budapest baths set their official admission prices in Hungarian forint, while prices shown in other currencies are usually converted for convenience. The base of the rates is Hungarian Forint, which means that Euro pricing may change several times within a given year. Please note that prices are subject to change and may vary seasonally so it is best to re-check prices before your planned visit if you wish to purchase the tickets on the spot rather than securing them online in advance.
HUF payment is accepted at the cashier in cash or by card. Kindly note that only Forint banknotes / coins are accepted at the cashier no other currencies (in cash).
Paying by Card? Choose HUF at the Cashier
If you pay by credit or debit card at the payment terminal in the thermal baths and are asked whether you would like to pay in Hungarian forint (HUF) or in your home currency (such as GBP, EUR or USD), it is generally advisable to select HUF rather than your home currency. Choosing your home currency – rather than HUF – usually means the conversion is less favourable as it is carried out by the merchant or payment provider using Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), which often includes an additional exchange rate markup.
By selecting HUF when paying by card in Hungary, the currency conversion is normally handled by your own card provider, which frequently offers a more favourable exchange rate. (As always, this depends on your bank’s terms and any foreign transaction fees.)
Exchanging Cash at the Cashier in Szechenyi Bath
If you prefer to pay in cash, where you exchange your money before the bath visit can make a noticeable difference. Exchange rates for Hungarian forint are often less favourable outside Hungary, while reputable exchange offices in Budapest city centre frequently offer better rates.
On the other hand, currency exchange desks at airports are commonly among the more expensive options due to wider exchange spreads. If possible, compare exchange rates before converting larger amounts of cash.
Online tickets allow entry from 7:00 am onwards (depending on the ticket type it may change), and are especially recommended for Friday – Sunday visits throughout the year, not only in peak holiday or festive season. Early risers may benefit from a quieter and calmer bath environment and can also choose to purchase tickets directly at the cashier with shorter queues building up at the cashiers (typically between 7 am and 8.30 am).
Before your visit, it is strongly recommended to check the current HUF exchange rate. If you plan to exchange money, city center exchange bureaus typically offer better rates than airport offices, which work with considerably less favourable rates.
If you are interested in Euro based Szechenyi bath tickets rather than HUF, you can make the reservation in the following booking form:
Hi
We are traveling from India and are double vaccinated. We have our country’s proof of vaccination (app) but not an EU Vaccination card. Will that be enough for entry to the baths?
Also, I understand that we cannot book massages before, but since we are traveling all the way from India, we dont want to risk not getting a massage. Any way we can prepay and book these massages?
Hello Akshay, covid passes are fine (what you use for the flights), but please check our website next week as it looks like there will be no need for the covid passes and masks from Mar 7.
Massage treatments are no longer available for pre-booking. Reservation is on the spot, on a first-come first-served basis, subject to availability.
Kindly note that massages are very popular and always get booked up on the spot (i.e. not guaranteed at the time of your arrival).
We recommend buying your entry tickets online arriving around 9am and adding the massages upon your arrival.
Enjoy your holiday in Budapest!
Hi if i go there in the morning and decided to go out after 2 hours, can i still come back in the afternoon with the same ticket i bought during the morning
Hello Rachel,
The entry tickets are single passes, so it is unfortunately not possible to leave the baths and return later with the same ticket.
You can find a cafeteria inside the baths if you wish to have a meal.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!
Good day,
We plan to visit the bath but we have a 7 years old girl. Is she allowed to the bath? Are there any restrictions?
Is the air inside humid and warm?
Thank you.
Hello Dushko,
The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no kid’s pools or activities.
The bath entry is free for children under 2 years old. Older children need to buy full-priced entries.
Most of the outdoor and indoor pools and baths are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters, therefore saunas and hot pools are not healthy for children under 14.
There is no fun pool for children.

The air inside is humid.
Enjoy your time in Budapest!
Hello, I would like to book tickets but I don’t understand the time of closing. I would like to come later in a day, around 6pm, as it is stated the pools are open until 10pm. But when booking tickets, mention is made that check-in must be done before 5pm because it closes at 8. What’s the right time of closing? Thanks!
Hello Sophie,
Szechenyi Spa Baths is open until 8pm this season (due to the pandemic).
Earlier it was open until 10 pm every day – hopefully it will be again in the near future.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!
Hi. I can’t seem to buy the fast track Bath tickets online with HUF.
Can I walk in to the counter on Saturday , to get a ticket for Sunday?
Hello Shihmay,
at the moment the booking is only available in Euros on our website. Yes, you can also buy entries upon arrival (non fast track tickets are available on the spot).
Have a wonderful Spring holiday in Budapest!
Hi there, I just wanted to know if we pre-buy our fast track tickets online, is it OK if we only arrive to check-in at 6pm? (I am aware that the baths are currently closing at 8pm. Thanks.
Hello Richard,
