You can reserve your online bath tickets in Hungarian Forint (HUF for short) to Széchenyi Thermal Bath to use the QR-enabled expedited check-in service for a smoother arrival experience. The QR codes are to be redeemed upon entrance: instead of a paper voucher you will be given a waterproof silicon wrist band with a built in chip equipped ‘watch’ which opens and closes the locks (of lockers and cabins alike).
HUF price list is available on the following page: Széchenyi Baths prices. The page shows a combination of EUR and HUF pricing depending on the type of ticket you wish to buy. Typically online tickets are priced in Euro. Most Budapest baths set their official admission prices in Hungarian forint, while prices shown in other currencies are usually converted for convenience. The base of the rates is Hungarian Forint, which means that Euro pricing may change several times within a given year. Please note that prices are subject to change and may vary seasonally so it is best to re-check prices before your planned visit if you wish to purchase the tickets on the spot rather than securing them online in advance.
HUF payment is accepted at the cashier in cash or by card. Kindly note that only Forint banknotes / coins are accepted at the cashier no other currencies (in cash).
Paying by Card? Choose HUF at the Cashier
If you pay by credit or debit card at the payment terminal in the thermal baths and are asked whether you would like to pay in Hungarian forint (HUF) or in your home currency (such as GBP, EUR or USD), it is generally advisable to select HUF rather than your home currency. Choosing your home currency – rather than HUF – usually means the conversion is less favourable as it is carried out by the merchant or payment provider using Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), which often includes an additional exchange rate markup.
By selecting HUF when paying by card in Hungary, the currency conversion is normally handled by your own card provider, which frequently offers a more favourable exchange rate. (As always, this depends on your bank’s terms and any foreign transaction fees.)
Exchanging Cash at the Cashier in Szechenyi Bath
If you prefer to pay in cash, where you exchange your money before the bath visit can make a noticeable difference. Exchange rates for Hungarian forint are often less favourable outside Hungary, while reputable exchange offices in Budapest city centre frequently offer better rates.
On the other hand, currency exchange desks at airports are commonly among the more expensive options due to wider exchange spreads. If possible, compare exchange rates before converting larger amounts of cash.
Online tickets allow entry from 7:00 am onwards (depending on the ticket type it may change), and are especially recommended for Friday – Sunday visits throughout the year, not only in peak holiday or festive season. Early risers may benefit from a quieter and calmer bath environment and can also choose to purchase tickets directly at the cashier with shorter queues building up at the cashiers (typically between 7 am and 8.30 am).
Before your visit, it is strongly recommended to check the current HUF exchange rate. If you plan to exchange money, city center exchange bureaus typically offer better rates than airport offices, which work with considerably less favourable rates.
If you are interested in Euro based Szechenyi bath tickets rather than HUF, you can make the reservation in the following booking form:
hi i would like to make reservations for march 2020, are there still any places available? thanks
Dear Andrea,
Thank you for your comment. 2020 dates will be available to book in December, please check back later.
Have a lovely day.
Hi there. I am confused with the prices online.
If I have 4 adults wanting a fast track bath ticket and cabin each on the 10th December weekday. Am I right to say this is 25200 HUF? Then I can see fast track , cabin and towel at 44,400 cabin. Can I not purchase without towel and hire a towel? How much would this be? Also are the prices the same if we bought the ticket on arrival?
Dear Olivia,
Thank you for your question.
Your above calculation was correct so the price for 4 Fast Track Tickets with Cabin would cost 25 200 HUF (4×6 300 HUF), exactly as you wrote. Please note that cabins may not be readily available upon check in as cabin availabilities vary during a given day (depending on visitorship and time of the day).
In case you do not want to purchase a towel you can rent them on the spot. Towel rental (a bit smaller than the bath sheet, 70*140 cm, but thicker and fluffier): HUF 2,000 (deposit: HUF 2,000). You can also bring your own, if you wish.
The Fast Track Tickets are approx. HUF 300 more expensive than the standard tickets purchased on the spot. Please note that whether it’s an online transaction on on-the-spot purchase, the rate that you will be offered is not the mid market exchange rate that google shows, unfortunately it is less. The currency exchange has a special tourist rate, when you search for 1 Euro to HUF, you will see (today) HUF 333.99 to the Euro, but at bureaus
you would receive only a portion of it, somewhere between HUF 300 and 330 to 1 Euro or maybe less (depending on where you buy it). Please do avoid currency exchange offices at Budapest airport and hotel reception as the rates are much more favorable in the city center.
Have a lovely day!
Hi there – I would like to visit your baths on Wednesday 25 December 2019 for the day and would like to book a private cabin or suite for two people so that towels etc are all included. Please can you confirm that it will be open on that day and whether it is advisable to book ahead now to reserve this.
Many thanks
Dear Guest,
Thank you for your inquiry about services between Dec 24, 2019, and Jan 7, 2020 in the baths.
Due to the high number of visitors during the festive winter days, the thermal baths’ managerial decision was made that no fast track entries or cabins (changing cubicles) are sold during these days, with the notable exception of the pre-NYE night party tickets, which will be bookable for December 30 as usual (in Szechenyi Baths https://szechenyibath.com/szechenyi-baths-new-year-bath-party/).
Guests of day time visit will be checked in on a first-come-first-served basis. As long queues are expected there may be some lines waiting in the cold. Please find more details, advice and other thermal bath alternatives on the following link: BathsBudapest.com/Dec
Rental services are available with payments on the spot (unfortunately, we cannot reserve them in advance). The rental facility accepts cash (in Hungarian Forints) and card payments for the rental and deposit. Please note that the deposit will be given back in cash.
Please find the prices here: https://szechenyibath.com/szechenyi-baths-towel-rental/
I see that December 24 to 32st is blocked. I am not able to book the tickets for any day in that week. Is that because it is full or not available online? Please guide me.
Dear Surabhi,
Thank you for asking about services between Dec 24, 2019, and Jan 07, 2020. In general, we would suggest online bookings, however, during the Winter Festive Season (Christmas and New Year – Dec 24 – Jan 7) the Hungarian capital does have a half a million extra visitors, which makes online Fast Track tickets to the baths simply non-fast track. Hence the managerial decision was made that no fast track entries or cabins are sold during the festive days, with the notable exception of the pre-NYE night party tickets, which will be bookable for December 30 as usual in Szechenyi Baths. Guests of day time visit will be checked in on a first-come-first-served basis. We do expect long lines due to the increased demand.

Hi,
Can I pay with my credit card on site please? Or you only accept cash?
Thanks
Dear Tony,
The booking form automatically redirects you to the PayPal page, where you can pay by card without owning or opening a PayPal account, simply using the interface of PayPal. You do not need to have a PayPal account for payment as there is an option for ‘Guest check out’. On the page, after scrolling down, you can see a grey button saying “Check Out as a Guest”. If you click on it, you can fill out your card payment details, and after clicking “Pay Now”, you are all set.
Please let me know if I can help with your booking.
Thank you for your reply.
What I was referring to is whether I can pay by card if I come directly to the Spa bath? Or you only accept cash?
Thanks
Dear Tony,
You can pay by card or cash as well at the cashiers.
Have a great day.
