Szechenyi Baths is definitely worth a visit. One of the questions tourists often ask us, and on various Budapest travel forums is if they need to take a towel with them or not.
The short answer is, yes, you can rent a towel at Szechenyi Baths, or even a bath robe. But make sure you let the cashier or the VIP Help Desk person know in advance that you wish to rent a towel, a bath robe or a swim wear. This will make your payment smoother. How? At the cashier or the Szechenyi Bath VIP Desk you can pay buy credit card or debit card, but inside the bath there is only payment in cash. As the deposits of rental items at the bath are set quite high, it is best to pay for the rental at the entrance rather than inside, where you cannot withdraw cash or use your card to pay (sorry, we hope this info reaches you in time).
If you are on a tight budget, you can save some money on the towel rental fee. However, if convenience is more important than a few forints, and you don’t want to stuff your handbag or rucksack for the complete walking tour in Budapest, you can hire a towel at Szechenyi Spa Baths.
In addition, you can also rent a swimming cap or swim wear.
Please note that a swimming cap is compulsory in the sports swimming pool (the rest of the thermal pools do not require the use of a cap).
There are no flipflops to rent though, so if you are staying more hours at the thermal baths and pool, you may wish to carry along your own flip flops.
Is it possible for me to wear leggings to the baths over my swimming bottoms?
I will be visiting you in 2 weeks and i wanted to ask if if I can bring my own towels as long as flip flops
Dear Panos,
we recommend you bring your own towels and flip flops too.
