The Opening Hours of Szechenyi Baths follow the seasons and keep changing throughout the year. That being said, the range from 9.00 – 19.00 (9 am – 7 pm) is 99.9% that it is open, including the open air facilities (the 3 outdoor pools, as well as the indoor facilities (15 indoor pools, steam rooms, saunas, massage parlours, beauty salon, aqua fitness & balneal treatment / balneotherapy, etc.). Please note that from 1 August 2025, entry to Szechenyi bath is permitted for guests aged 14+. We suggest visiting Palatinus Bath in the summer and Palatinus or Csillaghegy in colder months.
Out of the 18 pools in Szechenyi Bath, 3 pools are open air, while 15 pools are indoor. The outdoor and indoor areas have different opening hours
Kindly note that the Palm House/Dayspalm will close at 2 pm on Oct 23.
Kindly note that the outdoor swimming pool(lap pool) will be closed for autumn maintenance from Oct 8 to Oct 23, 2026.
The Szechenyi Bath will open at 8:00 am on the following special dates: October 23–25, 2026, and December 18, 2026, to January 6, 2027.
When is Szechenyi Bath Open?
- Mon- Thur: 7 am to 8 pm Last entry for convenience: 2h before closing time
- Fri 7 am to 10 pm
- Sat-Sun: 8 am to 8 pm Last entry for convenience: 2h before closing time
- Saunas and Steam rooms: from 7 am to 7.40 pm every day (Fri longer hours in 2025 summer: closing at 9.40 pm)
- Palm House: Mon-Wed: 9 am to 6 pm and Thu-Sun: 9 am to 7 pm.
- Check-in for the online bookings: minimum 2 hours before closing time, possibly 3 hours in order to enjoy the bath facilities in a convenient way. Shorter bath visits are less likely to be satisfactory or ‘enough’. Note: in festive periods Szechenyi Baths tends to run full house with waiting time of approx. 30-60 minutes. For a more relaxed bath experience we suggest taking a look at alternative baths like Rudas Bath or Lukacs Bath which tend to have calmer, less busy pools and bath facilities as well as shorter waiting times on special holidays (e.g. Christmas or New Year).

- Exceptions: national holidays when the bath is open for shorter hours, or during the same hours but at weekend prices (see below). Special events, e.g. Budapest foundation birthday.

If your Budapest break falls on a public holiday in Hungary, do not despair, Szechenyi Furdo is open even on holidays. December 24 – Dec 24 is a semi bank holiday for Hungarians: life usually stops in the city around 3-4 pm as this day is the traditional ‘boxing day’ in Hungary, when families visit each other, stand and sing around the Christmas tree, have a festive dinner of fish soup, beigli, etc., and give each other Christmas presents). Thank you for your question. During the upcoming festive season (between 24th December, 2019 and 7th January, 2020) there will be no fast track entry tickets sold based on a managerial decision. We kindly recommend you to go the bath early to purchase your ticket/s on the spot because they will be sold on first-come-first-served basis and it is very likely that the bath will be quite busy on the day of your visit.

For 2020 tickets, massages and packages: please check back in January. As the rates are not published yet, you will be able to book when we will start the sales for 2020 in January.
We recommend booking day time (9 am – 6 pm) tickets and massages in advance as the treatments are selling out rapidly.

Thank you for your inquiry about services between Dec 24, 2019, and Jan 7, 2020 in the baths.
Due to the high number of visitors during the festive winter days, the thermal baths’ managerial decision was made that no fast track entries or cabins (changing cubicles) are sold during these days, with the notable exception of the pre-NYE night party tickets, which will be bookable for December 30 as usual (in Szechenyi Baths https://szechenyibath.com/szechenyi-baths-new-year-bath-party/).
