Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.

Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

Hi,
I am hoping to visit the baths on Monday 16th April, for 2 people. Do I have to book for this, or can we arrive and buy tickets on the day?
Thank you
Hello Paige,
it is possible to buy your tickets on the spot at the Cashiers (but these are not fast track bath entries).
Have a great time in Szechenyi spa.
Hi Demetris,
only 1 of the 3 outdoor pools will be closed. More info: https://szechenyibath.com/szechenyi-bath-spring-maintenance-2018/
Day march 29 2018 me and my family have gone to your Thermal Bath at 6pm until 8pm. It was great, thank you. But the operator that give us the equipment to the bath pools is the person with the poor skills to do that service. She is so unempathic and dont explain nothing to us. She dont like the work that you give to her.
O must say this because she is doing a bad service.
Dear Jose,
We are very sorry to hear about your negative experience with one of the staff members. We appreciate your invaluable feedback, and will strive to improve the services.
We would like to do a tour of the baths without swimming on Tuesday 10 April – just the short visitors tour. How often do they run and can we book in advance? Many thanks, Julie
Dear Julie,
Tours start at 10am, 12.30pm and 3pm every day. It is not necessary to book in advance.
Our party has 6 people and at least one will not be swimming. Do they still have to wear swimwear (which they have not packed!) or is it possible to sit near the pools in normal clothes? I’ve seen a comment that says swimwear is mandatory.
Thank you
Dear Pete,
unfortunately swimwear is mandatory, street clothes are not allowed inside the Baths. Thank you for your understanding.
Dear Rachel,
yes, it is only for 1 outside pool. More information: https://szechenyibath.com/szechenyi-bath-spring-maintenance-2018/
