Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. I have two kids age 12 & 10. Would they be able to join me in the pool/thermal bath?

  2. Hello

I had visited the spa yesterday at around 5pm and had requested for entry with locker. 1186/00127.

In my haste i forgot to use my budapest card for the 20% discount.
I remembered when i finished at 730pm and came back to the desk to request tgat I forgot. The person was very gruff /rude and not accomadating. I explained that i really forgot and just exited and this was a treat for me and expensive already as from malaysia.

I came back and also realised that instead of being charged 5200 ft, i was charged 5400 ft as weekday and only with locker.

Quite dissapounted as first visit to budapest and left a bad aftertaste

  4. Szechenyi Spa Baths

    Dear Peggy,
we will contact you via email soon.
We are looking forward to welcoming you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!

  5. Hello, would there be any facilities suitable for disabled ?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Dear Marguerite,

thank you for contacting us. Much to our greatest regret, momentarily Szechenyi Bath is not wheelchair accessible as hoists / chair lifts / ramps etc. are in need of a complete overhaul. The wheelchair lifts have been rusting away in recent years and need a complete renewal (the bath is raising support to comply with accessibility). We would advise to visit a more wheelchair friendly thermal baths in Budapest. We are terribly sorry about any inconvenience.

  6. We are four friends who want to visit the terminal baths. We are thinking of Saturday the 25th of March. Do we need to book in advanced? We want the fast track and a package.
