Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.

Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

Can we buy tickets if we just decide on the day of the visit? Is there a waiting time for Feb 2018 weekdays?
Dear Ronaldo,
yes, you can buy the tickets on the spot too. On weekdays there are usually less people than on weekends, but if you don’t wish to join the lines at the cashier, we would recommend you to buy your fast track tickets online in advance.
I would like to come on the 20 of Febuary it would be my wife and I and 4 kids 17,16,9, and 7 what tickets do I need to purchase? I don’t need 6 cabins we can take turns and I need to help my younger kids anyway.
What should I purchase? How long do most families spend at the spa? We are very excited.
Thank you
Dear Dan,
thank you for your inquiry.
Unfortunately there is no special price for children, therefore you will need to buy full price tickets for each person.
Please kindly note that the hot thermal water is not recommend for children under 14 years old. More information: https://szechenyibath.com/can-children-go-to-szechenyi-baths-szechenyi-bath-faq/
If you don’t wish to have cabins for all of you, you can book tickets with locker too, and only 1 ticket with cabin.
Dear Camille,
thank you, in the meantime you have confirmed the receipt by email.
We hope you will enjoy your visit in Szechenyi Baths.

Thank you for getting back to me so they are not recommended for kids under 14 but can they use them ? And what options do you have or recommend for kids 9 and 10 ?
It’s our kids that want to see and experience this the most. I would like to buy the tickets but want to make sure I am ordering the corrrct things. Can they use the warm pools?
Thank you
Dan
So I checked out your link that is very helpful. The other places your link suggest are under construction. I think your place will be great we are interested in the open air pools and are not looking to play but to experience the baths and open air pool.
We will just take it easy and wisely…
So I just buy 6 tickets 6 lockers and one cabin. I did not see that as an option on the drop down ? Is that where I purchase this?
Dan
Dear Dan,
In this case I would recommend you to buy 5 tickets with locker and 1 ticket with cabin. You can select both ticket types from the drop down menu, but unfortunately you will need to make 2 separate bookings for this.
