Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.

Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

Hi, what is the ticket price for kids (5 and 8 year), and if we are 4 adults and 2 kids there is any discount? thank you
Hello Alina,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Children
The bath entry is free for children under 2 years old but older children have to pay full prices for tickets.
The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no kid’s pools or activities.
Most of the outdoor and indoor pools and baths are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters, therefore saunas and hot pools are not healthy for children under 14.

We recommend pre-booking your tickets a few days in advance.
Hi can we buy tickets on the day or do we have to pre book please? As we are wanting to visit in the day of our arrival to Budapest but just worried about travel delays. Thanks
Hi Jason,
Tickets are also available on the spot.
If you are unsure if you can make it we recommend you buy entries upon arrival.
Since the cancellation policy is strict we are not able to offer a refund in case of lateness.

Have a lovely festive season holiday in Budapest!
Hi,
I would like to ask you question if we will go to spa with children, what pools are we able to enter?
Hello Michal,
The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no different pricing for kids or students.
Only full price adult tickets are available in the spas ( and free for children under 2 years old).
There is no age restriction at the baths, however, please note that thermal waters for children under 14 are not recommended, but if the parents decide to come anyway at their own responsibility, they can.
As most of the outdoor and indoor pools are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters.
There are no fun pool for children.

It says outdoor baths closed 24-27 October 2022-so disappointed as this is Holuday time in England and when many will be travelling. Can you please confirm, are ALL outdoor baths closed?
Hello Alexa,
Thank you for your interest.
The maintenance is for all outdoor pools so we recommend using the indoor area or visiting on a different day.
Thank you for your kind understanding.
