Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.

Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

Hi! It seems it’s impossible to book tickets for Dec. 24-30. Are you open during the Christmas? If so, how can I book tickets. Thank you!
Hi Ru,
Thank you for your inquiry about services between Dec 24, 2019, and Jan 07, 2020 in the baths.
We usually suggest online bookings, however, during the days of the Festive Season (Christmas and New Year – Dec 24 – Jan 7) Budapest attracts half a million extra tourists, which makes online fast track tickets to Szechenyi Baths slower, non-fast track. Therefore, the managerial decision was made that no fast track entries or cabins are sold during the festive period, with the exception of the pre-NYE night party tickets, which are still bookable for December 30 as usual in Szechenyi Baths. Guests of day visits can purchase bath tickets on a first-come-first-served basis. Based on the last few years, we expect long lines given the increased visitorship. We can provide you some details and thermal bath alternatives on the following link: BathsBudapest.com/Dec
Enjoy the thermal baths and we wish you a wonderful holiday in Budapest with this winter guide: http://budapestchristmas.com/
We are looking for your availability for 5 one hour massages and access to your baths on November 22nd.
If there is no availability please advise of the next open date. Thank you in advance.
