Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

Hi. I really want to go to this place but I have 11 y/o child coming with me. Is she allowed in this spa. What would be the best time of the day to go.
    Thanks

      Hello Felicidad,

      thank you for contacting us.

The pools in Szechenyi Bath are not recommended for kids under the age of 14.

As many of the 18 outdoor and indoor pools and baths at Szechenyi Thermal Baths are more than 33 degrees Celsius, the mere temperature of the pools means a potential increase in the stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters. In addition, many pools are deeper, there are no specific child pools or aqua fun facilities (no slides, no splash areas, no colourful water park toys).

  4. Hi, I am coming end of October and was thinking to pass 1st of November in the baths. I know the date is a public mourning day so mostly everything is closed so I was wondering if the baths is closed as well on that date?
Another question is: I am veiled so do you allow burkinis in the baths? is there anything that I need to be aware of?

  5. How were the Turkish “occupiers” Romans were only “settlers”?
You don’t get whole a lot of history lessons in Hungarian schools do you? :)))

    • Oh come on. Let politics out of it, please, it’s tiring.
That were other periods. You wouldn’t call the homo erectus an “occupier” of Europe, or the Francs, “occupiers” of France, or the Saxons, “occupiers” of the British Islands, would you? The Turcs came much later, occupied the country and left after they lost a war. Although there are some ottaman heritage, they did not shape the modern hungary or its culture, in the same way that did the roman empire, Christianity, Judaism, Renaissance and the enlightment. I hope you see the difference now.

  6. Hello,

Are there any tickets price for few hours (3-4 hours), in the afternoon (for example with entry from 5pm until 9 pm) and what is the price for it, including private cabin changing? This tickets can be purchased online, as I haven’t seen any info related to this type of tickets

Are you allowed with your own drinks, or are there are any places to buy food or drinking, until the end of the progam – 10pm?

    Many thanks!
