Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.

Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

HI, I bought two ticket for 9/16/19 and have my paypal receipt but did not receive an email. Can you have it sent again?
Hello, is it also possible to buy a ticket there or do you need to book it online? And can you buy a swimming cap and what is the price?
Hello Lotte,
we recommend you buy entries online so you will be able to skip the main queue and check-in at our HelpDesk.
You can also buy entries upon arrival at the cashiers (non-Fast Track entries).
Swimming caps are required in the swimming pools only (not in the thermal pools). Swimming Caps can be purchased in the Baths for HUF 1500.
Have a lovely vacation in Budapest!
Hello Pippa,
it looks like that there was a spelling error in Maddy’s booking.
Now I have resent you the confirmation, please have a look in your spam folder too.
We are looking forward to welcoming you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!
Hello, we plan to visit Budapest from 6th to 10 th September and we would love to visit the thermal baths there. But we travel with a toddler, would you recommend it for toddlers? Thank you for your answer!
Hello Ash,
thank you for contacting us.
Children & babies who are not dry and clean yet (have not been potty trained yet) are not allowed in the pools, not even wearing a swimming nappy. This usually applies to children under 3 years of age. Babies and toddlers can come with you to the bath, and stay outside the pool area. Toddlers under 2 can enter the bath area free of charge (but will not be able to enjoy the waters unfortunately).
As many of the 18 outdoor and indoor pools and baths at Szechenyi Thermal Baths are more than 33 degrees Celsius, the mere temperature of the pools means a potential increase in the stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters. In addition, many pools are deeper, there are no specific child pools or aqua fun facilities (no slides, no splash areas, no colourful water park toys).
