Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.
Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.
The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.
Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

BOOKINGLast updated on Oct 11, 2024
Hello, I don’t have tickets but I would like to come on 28th December. What time should I arrive in the morning so I can get in?
Hello Owe,
we recommend you arrive by 9 am as most guests are arriving around 10 am. Have a nice stay in Budapest!
Hello, will we be able to buy tickets to the baths at the door on 30/12/19? Online tickets are booked out. Thanks :)
Hello Ursula,
yes, you can buy entries upon arrival. Online ticket sale for the festive period is not available, so please be advised that long queues are expected at the cashiers. Enjoy your winter holiday in Budapest!
Hello Ursula,
Tickets are only available on the spot, online tickets are not available until Jan 7.
Wishing you a great festive holiday in Budapest with this winter guide: http://newyearbudapest.com/
Hello! Can I book for tomorrow? The online tickets are all booked.
Thank you
Hello Alejandra, tickets are only available on the spot at the cashiers until Jan 7. Thank you for your kind understanding.
Hi there
We arrive in Budapest on the 3rd until the 8th of January and there doesn’t seem to be any availability until the 8th? Is this correct?
Hello Danielle,
online bookings are not available until Jan 8.
While we normally would recommend online bookings to secure your appointments or entries, during the Winter Festive Season (Christmas and New Year – Dec 24 – Jan 7) the city attracts half a million extra tourists, which makes online fast track tickets to Szechenyi Baths simply non-fast track, and ticket holders are often held back in the – otherwise peaceful and expectant – crowds gathering around the entrances. Hence the managerial decision was made that no fast track entries, cabins (changing cubicles) and massages are sold during the festive days.
Guests of day time visit will be checked in on a first-come-first-served basis. Unfortunately, we expect long queues due to the increased demand, even long lines in the cold. Please find more details, advice and other thermal bath alternatives on the following link: BathsBudapest.com/Dec
