Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Can you please email me my booking details for today they have not arrived. Thankyou

  2. Hello, I want to make a booking for 11th January but not sure which option to book. Where do we store all of our valuables / clothes? Where do we get changed? Thanks.

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Billi-Jo,
tickets are available with some kind of storage space: Cabins or Lockers.
All of our tickets are with Fast Track and they are valid for the whole day (check-in times: from 9 am to 6 pm). The cabin is like a tiny room, the size is that of a changing cubicle, where you can get changed and store your belongings (some guests are leaving for the airport directly, and leave their suitcase/backpack in the cabin. You can also book a safe, however, if you have anything of particular value. Please note that the baths are very busy, and we do not recommend storing/bringing items of considerable value with yourself to the baths, such as jewellery, valuable wristwatches, etc.).
The door of the Cabin has a unique chip code lock, which opens and closes with a special waterproof bracelet: in fact, your digital ticket will be replaced with a waterproof wristband, which incorporates the chip for the locker/cabin.
The size of the Locker is 120x30x65 cm (1200 x 300 x 650 mm). If you choose a ticket with a locker, which is a more affordable version than a ticket with a cabin, you can get changed in the public changing rooms (separated for men and women). The lockers will need to be opened and closed by your wristband, so do make sure to close the locker before leaving for the pool areas.
The ticket prices are higher with cabins than lockers. Also,  tickets are slightly more expensive on the weekends.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!

  3. Hi there,

Would you advise buying a ticket in advance or paying when we get there? Looking to come on Monday 30th December 2019 in the morning.

    Thank you very much
    Mark

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Dear Mark,
We would like to kindly inform you that online booking is not possible during the Festive Season (from 24th, 2019 Dec to 7th Jan, 2020) due to a managerial decision. Entries are available on the spot. Guests of day time visits will be checked in on a first-come-first-served basis. Unfortunately, we expect long queues due to the increased demand, even long lines in the cold so it might be a great idea to go the bath early to secure your entry to the bath.
Please find more details, advice and other thermal bath alternatives on the following link: BathsBudapest.com/Dec

Thank you for your kind cooperation. Enjoy the thermal baths in winter Budapest and explore some more if it is not your first visit to the city.

  4. Bonjour,

  5. Hello, what hours do you work tomorrow december 25th?

  6. Bonjour,
J’ai bien noté que nous ne pouvions plus acheter des billets en ligne pour le 25 mais est-il tout de même possible de venir aux bains ? Merci

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Bonjour Lili,

      Thank you for your question.

Yes, no Fast Track Tickets are sold online during the Festive Season (between 24th Dec,2019 and 7th Jan, 2020), however, tickets are sold on the spot on first-come-first-served basis.

Have a great time at the bath in Budapest!
