Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.
Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.
The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.
Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

BOOKINGLast updated on Dec 9, 2024
Hi!
I will be in Budapest with 8 friends on the weekend of November 2-5. We definitely want to visit the bathhouse but we don’t know which day yet. Is it risky if we only book on the day itself or will there probably still be room for 8 people? Thanks!
Hello Ymke,
Thank you for contacting us.
We have sent you an email about your request.
Enjoy your visit to Budapest!
Good morning, do you have availability for 2 adults for either 30th December or 31st December 2023 please? Unable to book on line and no answer from any of the tel numbers on your website, thank you
Hello Kate,
Thank you for contacting us.
We have sent you an email about your request.
Have a lovely and relaxing time in Budapest!
Hi
I have not received the QR codes?
Hello Penelope,
Thank you for contacting us.
We have sent you an email.
Enjoy your stay in Budapest!
Hi,
I will visit Budapest from 30/10 till 2/11 with wife and 2 kids (14 and 17). Do we have to pre order tickets or will it be very busy these days? Do we have to take the cabin all 4 of us?
I booked for 5 people. I did not receive my email and could not enter the baths but the amount was charged off my card.
I hope the company will do the right thing and refund the amount.
Hello Stephanie,
Unfortunately we cannot refund tickets that have not been used. Your tickets were scheduled for Oct 27 and sent to you to your email address with a shorter version of your first name (Stephie). This means that the QR codes were correctly sent to the email address provided in the booking form.
As this comment arrived almost at the closing hours on Oct 27, there was no communication about the failure of receipt of the QR codes (in the booking form as well as the T&C section it is specifically requested to contact us in due time if the QR codes are not received).
This is quite unfortunate if the alternative email address provided in the booking form was not checked for its inbox and spam folder as the QR codes were sent there and were ready to be used from 9 am on Oct 27.
Please let me know if we can be of further assistance.
My wife and I will be in Budapest on December 5&6, 2023. Are your baths open and what is the best way to experience the baths and spa? Please provide pricing for your various baths and treatments available. Thanks
Hello, the price of €37 per person includes the entry for szechenyi bath?
Hello Stella,
Thank you for getting in touch.
Yes the €37 entry is a Full-Day Bath Ticket with Locker usage at Szechenyi Baths. Besides the entry fee there are some additional inclusions on top of the bath entry purchased on our site.
We hope you enjoy the thermal baths in Budapest!
Hello Robert,
Thank you for getting in touch about the December opening hours and services in Szechenyi Bath.
The best way to experience the bath in the colder wintry months is to try the pools indoor (15 various pools) and outdoor (3 larger pools) as well. For the open air pools we recommend the two thermal pools, the one with the whirlpool is especially popular. Staying in the warm waters means you can enjoy the spring waters and the steam cloud layer forming over the pool water, which is a great sight in itself, not to mention the overall wellness effects. Inside you can alternate between the hot and cold (plunge) pools. There are regular aqua fitness classes (please ask the cashier for an updated schedule as it varies throughout the year). Saunas and steam chambers are a favourite service among many guests especially to strengthen the immune system (guests with health problems should consult their doctor if saunas and warm baths are beneficial for them, e.g. there might be some contraindications to sauna / thermal bathing for guests with unstable angina pectoris, recent myocardial infarction, and severe aortic stenosis, etc.).
For a quieter relaxation we suggest booking the rooftop greenhouse (Palm House) spa relaxation zone (it is a special entry zone on top of the Szechenyi Bath building, covered in glass, heated, sofas, hammocks, teas, cocktails etc. and most importantly, it is a quiet peaceful green oasis in the building). Rental services are only available with the Palm House Dayspalm tickets which may be useful when you don’t want to carry around a towel and bath robe. Bath robe is recommended in the winter season, as the outdoor areas are open air with chilly temperatures.
We have sent you an email with further details.
Enjoy your winter holiday in Budapest!
I went to the baths and was not allowed in despite having my ticket/QR code. They said the ticket needed to be reissued for tomorrow (30/10). Can you please do this?
Hello Angela,
Thank you for your comment. We contacted you via email over the weekend/
Although we still do not understand what exactly may have happened at the check in process (was it at a later hour maybe?) as there was no other report of any similar incident with QR codes (not just yesterday but in the total time).
Please find the updated confirmation in your given email with an updated QR code. Please present the updated QR code digitally or printed (the new updated one) at the baths. Kindly check your spam folder too as the updated QR code has been already sent to you at the weekend.
