Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Hi I am wanting to book 2 entry tickets and a couples massage on Monday 5th December but I can’t work out how to book the massage?

  2. Hello, we are a family of 5 visiting Budapest from 28 December to 3 January and wish to visit the baths and book a massage. we are 2 adults and 3 kids aged 7; 12 and 14 years old. please advise on options available?
Is there an age restriction for the massages and can we pre-book? Is the outdoor baths comfortable for use in the winter months?

      Dear Christel,
Thank you for getting in touch.
The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no kid’s pools or activities.

The bath entry is free for children under 2 years old. Older children need to buy full priced entries.

Most of the outdoor and indoor pools and baths are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters, therefore saunas and hot pools are not healthy for children under 14.
There is no fun pool for children.

Massages are only available for adults.
Since the outdoor hot pools are open all year round they are very popular, please find more details about visiting in winter on the link below:

      Dear Sarah,
Thank you for choosing Szechenyi Spa Baths!
Towel rental is not available since the start of the pandemic.
You can buy slippers and towels at the entrance hall, but we recommend bringing your own bath kit.

  5. Hello, I need to change the date of my booking as it’s too close to the time of my flight landing.

  6. Hi me and my husband are hoping to visit the baths on the 1st December should we book tickets in advance?
And what massage offers do you have?
