Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, at night, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are 10 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.
Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.
The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.
Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

BOOKINGLast updated Dec 8, 2023
Hi we are visiting on 29th april 2023. Is it too early to buy tickets for the baths and massage. Can you advise how to purchase for 4 adults
Hello Angelina,
we recommend you make your booking 1 month before arrival. 2023 rates are not confirmed yet.
Have a wonderful holiday in Budapest!
We were there in the Spring time of 2022. We were staying in Budapest and took the Subway that takes us directly to the spa. If you are over 60 the Subway is free. Then we walked into the spa without pre buying tickets and just bought them right there ,no problem.
The spa is super reasonable and you can stay there all day they even give you beautiful wooden dressing rooms.
We are visiting in November ,will it be open and what will be timings and options for spas for cold season.
Hello Priyanka,
Yes, Szechenyi Spa Baths will be open as usual.
Cold autumn months are popular, guests enjoy soaking in the natural hot spring waters outdoors.
Please find some more details about visiting in winter:
