The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Hi we are visiting on 29th april 2023. Is it too early to buy tickets for the baths and massage. Can you advise how to purchase for 4 adults

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Angelina,
we recommend you make your booking 1 month before arrival. 2023 rates are not confirmed yet.
Have a wonderful holiday in Budapest!

  2. Diana Baskin Erickson

We were there in the Spring time of 2022. We were staying in Budapest and took the Subway that takes us directly to the spa. If you are over 60 the Subway is free. Then we walked into the spa without pre buying tickets and just bought them right there ,no problem.

The spa is super reasonable and you can stay there all day they even give you beautiful wooden dressing rooms.

  3. We are visiting in November ,will it be open and what will be timings and options for spas for cold season.

  4. Hello I was looking to book tickets for 2 people and the VIP Luxury Refreshing Massage but can’t find where to book the massage. Please can you help me?
