Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

Budapest Spa Party / Sparty
Budapest Bath Party / Sparty

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Hi, is there towel rental available in Szechenyi spa?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hi Kitty,
Towel rental is suspended since the start of the pandemic.
Please bring your own towel, or you can buy a towel on the spot (from HUF 6000).
Flip flops /slippers are required to be worn in the whole area of the bath. If you do not have your own, you can buy a pair in the entrance hall shop.

  2. My wife is pregnant and as far as I understand it is allowed to enter the pools only if the temperature does not exceed 40 degrees. What is the temperature of the baths?

  3. Can I buy a towel and how much are they. Can you tell me if the red sightseeing bus stops near you. Is there somewhere safe to leave my money/bank card
    Thankyou

  4. How much does it cost to purchase a towel and flip flops/slippers on entry?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Daryl,
a towel is available for HUF 6000 and slippers for HUF 4000.
We recommend you bring your own if possible.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!

      • Hello. We are a couple with a 7 years old son. Can the child come as well? And how much does the ticket for him costs?

        • Szechenyi Spa Baths

          Hello Elena,
          Thank you for reaching out.
The bath entry is free for children under 2 years old but older children have to pay full prices tickets.
The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no kid’s pools or activities.
Most of the outdoor and indoor pools and baths are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters, therefore saunas and hot pools are not healthy for children under 14.

Здравейте! Събота или неделя привечер е по- удачно да се посетят баните? Можем ли да разчитаме на закупуване билетите на място или по- добре онлайн? Група от 8 човека ползва ли намаление в цената? Благодаря предварително!

      • Szechenyi Spa Baths

  6. Hi I’d like to book a massage/ treatment for tomorrow – I have my ticket already..
