Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. We want to visit on the 1 oct 2022 but booking doesn’t allow. When will i be able to?

  2. Do you have hair drying facilities? Or plugs to use hair dryers?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Dear Beth,
You can find hairdryers and mirrors in the changing rooms/shower areas.
      Plugs are also available.
Have a lovely time in Budapest!

  3. Hi! Where checking out of our hostel on Monday but we still have a full day for Budapest and we were thinking of visiting the Szechenyi Baths. Are your lockers big enough to store luggage carryon size Suitcase?

    Best regards

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Ziga,
We suggest the tickets with cabins for you.
The cabin is like a tiny room, or cubicle, which can store a standard check in suitcase easily.
The cabin size is approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop, so you can leave there the 20 kg suitcase as well ( if it is a regular size) along with your jackets etc.

The door of the cabin has a unique chip code lock, which opens and closes with a special waterproof bracelet: in fact, with the chip incorporated in the wristband bath entry provided at the bath. Please make sure that your door is locked with the silicon wristband before leaving the cabin. As you are wearing the band all the times, it is quite secure if you make sure that the door is not left open.

The size of the locker is 120x30x65 cm (1200 x 300 x 650 mm)., so it would be too small for your bags.
The lockers are also opened and closed by your wristband.

Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!

  4. Hi,

Are the pools open all year around? We are thinking to come between January 21st and leave on 24th. When can you pre book for then?

Are the pools still warm in the winter?

    Thanks,

  5. Hello, I accidentally booked the wrong day for my trip. I booked the 18th of August but meant to book the 15th. Am I able to change my trip to either the 15th or 16th as I am allowing over 72hrs’ notice? How do I go about changing this?

    Thank you in advance!

  6. Hi there! I am traveling with my family at the end of November. My father and mother are visiting as well but my father is in a wheelchair. I was wondering if the spa is wheelchair accessible? And if they have any options for him regarding changing and entering the thermal baths?

Thank you very much for your time, I really appreciate!
    Looking forward to your response,

    Portia Gale

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Dear Portia,
      Thank you for your inquiry.
