Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, at night, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are 10 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.
Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.
The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.
Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

Hi
We are planning to visit the bath this month end. We are 4 adults with 1 kid of 4 years old. Is the kid also allowed into the bath on our request?
If not, then could you please suggest if there exists any watch area for the kid so that we can check him while we get into the bath…
Please suggest if there is any other way as well…
Thanks…
Hello Manikanta,
The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no kid’s pools or activities.
The bath entry is free for children under 2 years old. Older children need to buy full priced entries.
Most of the outdoor and indoor pools and baths are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters, therefore saunas and hot pools are not healthy for children under 14.
There is no fun pool for children. Babies who are not potty trained are not allowed in the pools, even if they are wearing a swimming nappy. It mostly applies to children under the age of 3.
Please find more details about this topic on the link below

We recommend families with children to visit one of the open air lidos in Budapest, especially Palatinus Pools on Margaret Island and Dagaly Lido close to Arpad Bridge (north of Margaret Island).

I am planning to visit Budapest in a few months and would like to visit the Szechenyi Spa Baths. I was wondering if you are still requiring patrons to wear masks inside the baths and during massage treatments? I was just curious if I would be needed to wear one while I am on my visit to the Szechenyi Spa Baths. Thank you.
Is it possible to enter the Szechenyi Spa Budapest without any Covid-19 vaccination certificate or PRC-test? It said on the EU website that there are no covid-related restrictions in Hungary anymore. I’ll be travelling there early July this summer.
