Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Hi, I am wondering how the Berr spa baths are setup, are they all in individual rooms or are they all together side by side in 1 room?

Also, are there 6 baths so people sit in individually or is there 3 baths with 2 people sharing?

    Thanks

  2. Hello, Me and my wife are planning to visit soon, we have an infant (8 month old) with us. They won’t be entering the bath and we plan to take turns using the bath, does he require a ticket ? Are strollers allowed inside ? Thank you !

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Abhi,
The bath entry is free for children under 2 years old but older children have to pay full prices tickets. Babies who are not potty trained are not allowed in the pools in Gellert Spa, even if they are wearing a swimming nappy. It mostly applies to children under the age of 3. Babies and toddlers can come with the family to the Spa but need to stay outside the pool area with somebody.
The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no kid’s pools or activities.
Most of the outdoor and indoor pools and baths are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters, therefore saunas and hot pools are not healthy for children under 14.
You can lock the stroller in the cabin along with your jackets and other belongings.

  3. Hello, are towels and robes provided please?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Jo,
The rental service is suspended since the start of the pandemic.

We recommend you bring your own slippers and lightweight towels.

Bathrobes are only available for purchase.

You can purchase a towel on the spot: the fluffy towel makes a nice gift and serves as a keepsake luxury towel embroidered with the Szechenyi Bath logo. Alternatively, you can purchase a disposable towel at a fraction of the cost. For environmental reasons, as part of green tourism, we kindly ask you to consider bringing your own light weight towel. Microfibre towels are reusable, super absorbing and ultra lightweight, suitable for carrying around the city.

  5. We are 2 couples visiting Budapest between 8-15 of May. How are the situation visavi tickets for at least one day maybe more during the period in question?

    Thank you and best regards

  6. We have booked the €25 ticket which includes changing cubicles. Does this ticket includes access to lockers?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello AJK,
The cabin is like a tiny room where you can get changed and store your belongings.

The cabin size is approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop and the door has a unique chip code lock, which opens and closes with a special waterproof bracelet: in fact, with the chip incorporated in the wristband bath entry provided at the bath. Please make sure that your door is locked with the silicon wristband before leaving the cabin. As you are wearing the band all the time, it is quite secure if you make sure that the door is not left open.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    • Cubicle or lockers……..lockers are small., just a locker…..where cubicles are more private and maybe 6X6
