Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

Budapest Spa Party / Sparty
Budapest Bath Party / Sparty

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Hi hello. Would you say how to get the ticket to the Saturday party? Or the ticket is the same is just that we need to come on Saturday?

  2. Is 18 month baby allowed ?

      Hello Diogo,
Thank you for checking before visiting Szechenyi Spa Baths.
The bath entry is free for children under 2 years old but older children have to pay full prices tickets.
Babies who are not potty trained are not allowed in the pools, even if they are wearing a swimming nappy. It mostly applies to children under the age of 3. Babies and toddlers can come with the family to the Spa but need to stay outside the pool area with somebody.
The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no kid’s pools or activities.
Most of the outdoor and indoor pools and baths are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress on the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters, therefore saunas and hot pools are not healthy for children under 14.

  4. Are the baths open all year round please? Including December? Thank you!

  5. Greetings,
Is there an option to buy a double ticket and only to stroll and look around the baths, take pictures, etc or we must use a daily ticket ?

    Thank you for your time

      Hello Iasen,
at the moment only full- day adult tickets are available.
There were visitor tickets previously (for a 15-20 min guided walk at the baths) but they are not available since the pandemic.
You can make some photos for yourself respecting other guests. If you wish to get an official photo permit, please let us know.

  6. Hi
We are family of 4. Is there a family ticket? Also is my son who is 8.5 years allowed?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Smita,
The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no different pricing for kids or students.
Only full-price adult tickets are available in the spas- and no family tickets ( the entry free for children under 2 years old).
There is no age restriction at the baths, however, please note that thermal waters for children under 14 are not recommended, but if the parents decide to come anyway at their own responsibility, they can. There are no fun pools or kids activities.
As most of the outdoor and indoor pools are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters.
We recommend families with children visiting one of the lidos in Budapest, especially Palatinus Pools on Margaret Island and Dagaly Lido close to Arpad Bridge (north of Margaret Island).
Have a nice family holiday in Budapest!
