Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

Budapest Spa Party / Sparty
Budapest Bath Party / Sparty

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  3. Hi There,
I booked an entry and massage package through head out and I was told that I would be contacted by your organization to book the massages no one has reached out to me yet and this was over a month ago. I have a very tight schedule so the massage has to happen within very specific hours.
Can someone please reach out to book the massages for me, please
    Thank you

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Heidy,
it looks like you have made the booking with a different company, as massage bookings are suspended on our website.
We have asked our partners to get in touch with them.
In the meantime, please check your confirmation email and contact the provider you have booked with.

  4. Hi There, is it the same price for a child as it is an adult? Thank you.

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Suzie,
The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no different pricing for kids or students.
Only full-price adult tickets are available in the spas ( and free for children under 2 years old).
There is no age restriction at the baths, however, please note that thermal waters for children under 14 are not recommended, but if the parents decide to come anyway at their own responsibility, they can.

As most of the outdoor and indoor pools are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters. Please find more details about this topic on the link below:

  5. Bernadette Bartram

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Bernadette,
please make your booking closer to your travel dates, we recommend the booking 2 weeks in advance.
At the moment, online tickets are sold until the end of April.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!

  6. Hello. Just booked 2 Ticket & SzB Cabin Changing Cubicle €25 for April 9, 2022. Can you tell me what is the best transport to come to Szechenyi and back to the Viking Bragi from Szechenyi? Thanks for your attention.

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Wennie,

      Thank you for contacting us.
Since Szechenyi Spa Baths is located at the City Park (Varosliget) you can take Metro M1. Vorosmarty Square station in the city centre is a few minutes walk from the dock by the Chain Bridge used by Viking cruise ships in Budapest. The yellow line subway / also called M1 for metro 1 line in Budapest has a special station called Szechenyi Bath so the ride is without a change and is convenient (unless there are restorative works – please kindly check for updates with the metro station / public transport authorities).
Please note that there are no or very few escalators on the M1 metro line so climbing stairs can be needed at certain points.

Have a nice holiday in Budapest!
