Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  2. Sylwia Kuczynska

Hi, I’m visiting Budapest mid March from the UK. Me and my friend both had covid beginning of 2022, what kind of proof is needed? Is an email from the NHS valid ?if not what is . Thank you

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

Hello Sylwia, usually covid passes are fine (what you use for the flights), but please check our website next week as it looks like there will be no need for the covid passes and masks from Mar 7.

    • Hi,

I’m coming to Budapest and wish to try out the beer spa and the sparty on Saturday night on the 12th. Do I just have to get one ticket or two individual tickets? The sparty has its own ticket website and so does the beer spa but the venue seems to be the same .

  3. Hello, i have booked a trip to Budapest starting on March 7th . Could you please tell me if PCR test is accepted to access the Spa if the restrictions are still in place next week?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

What time is last entry and until what time outdoor pools and indoor pools are in use. We will be there on 7th of May.

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hi Dimitra,
the latest check-in time with the online tickets is at 6 pm.
We recommend arriving in the early afternoon hours and spending at least 3 hours inside, trying different pools and taking time to relax.
The baths is closing at 8pm, but it can be extended by May.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!

  5. So people are swimming with masks on their faces? ‍♂️ And you find this normal?
Is triple jab OK, or should I wait for another jab?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Pop,
from today, the bathhouse can be visited without any covid passports or vaccination proofs. Masks are no longer mandatory inside the pools but it is recommended to wear them at busy places such as the public dressing rooms etc.
Please let me know if I can help more.

  6. Hi- we are considering going to the széchenyi spa on april 12th to reserve a private cabin+regular ticket, but we also want to get massages however on your website it says that massage isn’t available to book online. What shall/can we do regarding to booking before arrival. We are able to arrive in the early hours of the day

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Sofie,
Thank you for your inquiry about the Spa Baths massage services.
Massage treatments are no longer available for pre-booking. Reservation is on the spot, on a first come first-served basis, subject to availability.
Kindly note that massages are very popular and always get booked up on the spot (i.e. not guaranteed at the time of your arrival).
We recommend buying your entry tickets online and adding the massages upon your arrival. We recommend the arrival just around 9am in order to get available appointments.
Cabin tickets are available for pre-booking on our website.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
