Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Hi :)

Is it possible to enter the baths with one dose of vaccine(14 days passed) + PCR/Antigen test?

    Thank you!

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Casey,
yes, it does not matter how many jabs you have had, please make sure that you can present the vaccination certificate along with a matching photo ID.

If you have official proof of recovery from Covid (EU recovery pass) it is also accepted (antibody test)

Please note, that PCR tests or LFS (lateral flow tests) are not accepted, only recommended on top of Covid passports.
      Enjoy your stay in Budapest!

  2. Hi, I am not able to come and am inquiring about a refund. Thank you

  3. Hi, me and my boyfriend are hoping to come to the spa on 15th March 2022. I saw that you are not allowing guests to book treatments in advance? Is it better for me to book our tickets and then book massage treatments on the day? Thanks!!

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hi Gabriella,
Thank you for your inquiry about the Spa Baths massage services.
Massage treatments are no longer available for pre-booking. Reservation is on the spot, on a first come first served basis, subject to availability.
Kindly note that massages are very popular and always get booked up on the spot (i.e. not guaranteed at the time of your arrival).
We recommend buying your entry tickets online and adding the massages upon your arrival.
Have a lovely holiday in Budapest!

  4. Hi,

Just wondering if we are supplied with towels or robes there or do we need to bring our own?

    Thanks!

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Beth,
we recommend bringing your own towels, slippers (and bathrobe).
Towel: Rental not available. Please bring your own towel, or you can buy a towel on the spot.
Flip flops /slippers are required to be worn in the whole area of the bath. If you do not have your own, you can buy a pair in the entrance hall shop.
Enjoy your visit to Szechenyi Baths and Pools (Széchenyi Fürdő in Hungarian). Please read our FAQ for more frequently asked questions about Szechenyi Furdo:

  5. Hi, my wife and me have a recovery official certificate from 11.2021, is it valid for entering your place ? (We had already the 2 doses of vaccine in August 2021). Thanks.

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Mina,
if there is no expiry date on the recovery certificate is accepted.
(Some countries provide it with an expiry date but the ones without a date are ok to show along with your photo ID’s).
Enjoy your visit to Szechenyi Spa Baths!

  6. My daughter can’t have the vaccine due to allergies. She has a Covid recovery certificate from 15th Feb. This is the one place we hope to visit during our stay – we hope to visit on Tuesday 22nd Feb – will she gain access ?

    Kind Regards

    Dawn
