Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

    Hi!

Can I book 6 tickets for 2pm on Friday, 4th March, or do I just book a day pass?

Also, we are coming from the UK – is the UK NHS COVID Pass sufficient for us to gain access to your Baths?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Brigitte,

      Thank you for contacting us.
Please feel free to make your reservation for the Szechenyi thermal bath entries in advance when you are ready.
NHS Covid passports are accepted – photo ID will be needed along with the pass that matches the data.

Have a relaxing wellness trip to Budapest.

  2. Hello, I booked for 14th of February.
Afterwards I noticed that the date is supposed to be 24 hours ahead.
Does that mean that with my current tickets I cannot join the baths on the 14th, but directly on the 15th??
Thanks in advance for your help.

      Hello Catelle,

Booking is minimum 24 hours ahead, indeed, but that booking could be for any future date. It basically means that same day reservations for the bath tickets are not available.
You are absolutely fine with your Feb 14 booking.

Have a great time in Budapest city, and a lovely Valentine’s Day weekend / getaway.

  5. Hello good afternoon!

My boyfriend is crazy about chess and we saw a photo of the spa in which there were several groups playing while bathing.

Our goal is really to go and he can have that experience.

In this sense, we would like to know if this really happens often? Are there groups that agree to go on certain days to play?

Since you know your audience better than we do, we wanted to have as much information as possible in this regard in order for them to fulfill their dream of playing chess in the spa.

    Thanks

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Soraia,
guests are playing almost every day in the warmer months but you can find some players even in February in the outdoor pools.
We recommend bringing your own waterproof chess kit and starting playing for your own fun and you might find some players to play with throughout the day. Szechenyi Baths is located in the beautiful City Park and if you are lucky you may find chess players around there as well, as it is a beloved spot (such as Bakats Square and Varosmajor Park). I hope you will have nice weather during your visit and you can experience the chess side of Budapest as well!
      Enjoy your stay in Budapest!

  6. Hello!
I am planning to visit your Baths next week on holidays. Could you please clarify if at this moment it is possible to rent robes on location, or is it only possible to buy one?

    Thank you in advance :)

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Natalia,
at the moment, the rental is suspended, therefore it is only possible to buy bathrobes. We recommend bringing your own towels and bathrobes.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!
