Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Hello. We will visit the city 13-16 Jan 2022. My boyfriend is vaccinated and I will PCR test or antigen test. Do you accept PCR or antigen test for entrance?

    • and do we need to book online or since you wrote that in January in peacetime, we can buy a ticket on the spot?
      Thank you!

        Hello Tira,
        Thank you for contacting us.

If you’d prefer to buy your bath entry at the cashier it is also an option. Kindly make sure to have Hungarian forint if you wish to pay in cash (there are quite a few exchange bureaus in the city centre, offering better deals than airport bureaus). January is indeed more relaxed in general than the super busy December month.

        Covid safety regulations:
If you have a Covid passport proving 1 or 2 jabs of the vaccination (if it is valid and has not expired) it will be accepted.
Kindly note that a valid photo ID is also needed that matches the vaccination/ immunity data on your digital or printed documents.
Have a great holiday in Budapest!

      Hello Tita,
      Thank you for contacting us.

If you have a Covid passport proving 1 or 2 jabs of the vaccination (if it is valid and has not expired) it will be accepted.
Unfortunately, PCR or antiGEN tests are not accepted without a valid official Covid passport or antiBODY certificate.

Currently only visitors who have valid proof of vaccination (Covid passport) OR immunity (proof of antibodies) are allowed to enter the baths, as long as your documents are official and valid (official antibody tests are accepted by the baths as attestation of immunity), great to be complemented by the recent negative PCR tests or negative lateral flow tests for enhanced safety.
Kindly note that a valid photo ID is also needed that matches the vaccination/ immunity data on your digital or printed documents.
Have a great holiday in Budapest!

  2. Hi, are you accepting Australian vaccine passports?

Currently only visitors who have valid proof of vaccination (Covid passport) OR immunity (proof of antibodies) are allowed to enter the baths, as long as your documents are official and valid (official antibody tests are accepted by the baths as attestation of immunity), great to be complemented by the recent negative PCR test for enhanced safety.

      Hello Kiera,
      Thank you for contacting us.

Unfortunately, a stand alone negative PCR test is insufficient.

  4. Hey!

Is still one vaccine enough to enter your spa?

    Thanks

  5. Hello
I have a question that I am fully vaccinated, I got three doses but my girlfriend is not but she has confirmation from her doctor that she is risky to get vaccinated because of diseases, she can go testing of course. Is allow to enter for that exemption ?
    Thanks

      Hello Damian,
      Thank you for contacting us.

Unfortunately, a stand alone negative PCR test is insufficient, even if she is exempt from vaccination. Truly sorry about that, it is the policy that has been set and needs to be observed by all guests. This policy may be revised by the summer months so if your trip is scheduled later, please check back later – the policies are seasonally changing, also following global and national Covid updates.

If you have a Covid passport proving 1 or 2 jabs of the vaccination (if it is valid and has not expired) it will be accepted.

  6. Hello, we’re planning to come on Thursday 20th January and we’d like to have massages but I just red it’s not possible to book anymore :( and the reservation will be on the stop!
Around what time should we come approximately to be sure to be able a massage for 2 please?

    Thank you very much ;)

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Vianney,

If you arrive in the morning hours you can book your massage and return later on if you wish.
But please bear in mind the following:
      – massage treatments can only be offered if you have a valid ticket to enter the baths (for the same day, booked on the spot)
      – each ticket is a single pass – you cannot use them multiple times by leaving and re-entering, only for one entry
      – once you activate the ticket you will need to stay inside the bath complex if you also wish to get your massage you paid for.

I hope the above makes sense.
Have a great January holiday in Budapest city!

      • Ok thank you very much for answering! Around 11am is it early enough to book massage? Thank you :)

        • Szechenyi Spa Baths

          Hello Vianney,

You are more than welcome. :)
It is hard to predict – on some days the massages are booked up before 10 am, on other days, there may be some more options.
As the number of therapists is also reduced (due to self isolation) it is never a fixed state I’m afraid.

If you can drop into the baths in the early hours (9 am) there is a higher chance. But in January it is not impossible to get a massage slot at 11 am.
