Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Hi,
i’ve booked for sunday and have a daughter of 9 with. is rapid test enough and how long valid the test? best regards

  2. I booked and paid for €25 and got the one with the changing cabin. My friends paid only around €12 for entry with changing cabin. This website is profiting too much from people. Don’t be fooled.

      Dear Romeo,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
The tickets sold can vary by type and inclusions. If your friend purchased a bath ticket for a weekday with a locker it will be considerably cheaper than a weekend ticket with a cabin.
As your ticket is for Dec 31 it requires a holiday (weekend) price, also increased by the cabin price (a changing cubicle). However, many guests are likely to not get in as the baths are overbooked on special days, like New Year’s Eve.

The ticket you purchased is a fast track ticket but kindly note that Dec 31 is so fully booked that we expect to have a waiting time – even with fast track tickets – of approximately 30- 60 minutes.
This has been communicated along with other advice. Kindly prepare your ticket and your valid Covid passport along with a photo ID for proof of identity before entering the baths to speed up the entrance process.
Please also time your arrival 4 hours before the official closing hours (as advised in your ticket) to make sure ample time remains to enjoy the baths.

The ticket you bought also includes the following:
      fast track bath ticket
      holiday surcharge for Dec 31
      cabin / changing cubicle
      digital ticket
handling fee (not shown separately, but included in the total price, but deducted by the payment platform, with additional bank fees your bank charges, which varies by banks and countries)
free change of dates with an advance notification of 72 hours
personalised help – emails and comments with customised assistance

Sadly, we confirm that online payment fees are unlikely to be reduced in the future.
If you can buy your ticket in cash in Hungarian Forint, or purchase by using a Hungarian HUF based bank account for a weekday (Monday – Friday) with a locker it is not comparable by paying the ticket in a foreign currency (which widely vary inside and outside the EURO zone, as many banks will change e.g. from pounds to Euros, which will then be charged from Euros to Hungarian Forints, etc.), via internationally recognised payment platforms (e.g. PayPal or Stripe etc. which all heavily charge payments, as does your very own bank, which will also add their own fees), for a bank holiday ticket (or Sat / Sun ticket) with a private cabin.

Thank you again: we appreciate your feedback and your time.

  3. Hi there,

I want to book 9 spa tickets for Monday 21st February 2021 with a changing room – how can I book this please?

    Thank you,

    Katie

    • (Apologies- I meant Monday 1st February 2022)

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Katie,

      Thank you for contacting us.
Due to a stricter refund policy, we would suggest making your reservation 1 week before your planned date in February to minimise any potential losses (there are special travel insurances that include ticket cancellation options within 24 hours).
You can book your tickets in advance for Szechenyi baths (there are multiple online vendors).
Changing room – private changing cubicles are called ‘cabins’ and the ticket with cabins means that each ticket holder has their own private cabin to use. The default tickets include a locker, the cabin is an additional convenience with its own surcharge. The fast track tickets on our site are valid for any day and have a cabin.
Hope you will have a fantastic February time in Budapest!

      Covid entry policy:
Currently visitors over 16 years of age are only allowed to visit the baths if they present a valid proof of vaccination OR immunity (including official antibody tests and documents provided about the 1st jab of the vaccination). Under 16 years old children will need to be accompanied by a vaccinated adult but do not need to have a child vaccination document.

Kindly note that a valid photo ID is also needed that matches the vaccination/ immunity data on your digital or printed documents.
Have a great winter holiday in Budapest!

  4. Hello,

can I enter the bath with only 1st vaccination + negative pcr test or is it obligatory to have 2nd vaccination? And does that only apply to this specific bath or to all baths in entire country of hungary?

    Thank you.

  5. Hi, I am planning to visit at the end of January 2022. I have a full Covid passport with two vaccines however my partner has not had the vaccines. She does have proof of antibody documents as she has recently had Covid and is since testing negative (28 days since negative results)

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Tylor,

Thank you for reaching out to us.
Currently only visitors who have valid proof of vaccination OR immunity are allowed to enter the baths: based on your information it seems that you would both be allowed to enter as long as your documents are official and valid (official antibody tests are accepted by the baths as attestation of immunity, which is great to be complemented by the recent negative PCR test. Kindly note that a valid photo ID is also needed that matches the vaccination/ immunity data on your digital or printed documents.
Have a great winter holiday in Budapest!

  6. Hello,
I will be visiting Budapest 14-16 Jan 2022. I was wondering what the best times to go to the baths would be? Also what are the temperature of the various pools? We are booth fully vaccinated (with booster), but my wife will be about 28 weeks pregnant. I know she should not use pools with jets or too hot, so I just want to make sure it’s worth it to come to the baths.
    Thank you!
    -Alex

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Alex,

      Thank you for contacting us.
The most ideal times are usually around 10 am to enter, but January is normally quieter after the mass popularity of the end of December, so timing should be more flexible and visitor friendly for the afternoon.
For your wife, we kindly suggest a consultation with the OBGYN as each pregnancy is different.
Some pools are warmers, over 33 degrees Celsius, others are around mid 20s or lower 20s. There are 15 pools of various sizes and temperatures, each showing the given temperature by the pool.

Have a great January holiday in Budapest!

      • Hi, are you accepting Australian covid travel passports?
        Thanks

        • Szechenyi Spa Baths

          Hi Ellie,
          Thank you for contacting us.

If you have an Australian Covid passport proving 1 or 2 jabs of the vaccination (if it is valid and has not expired) it will be accepted.
In early 2022 only visitors who have valid proof of vaccination (Covid passport) OR immunity (proof of antibodies) are allowed to enter the baths, as long as your documents are official and valid (official antibody tests are accepted by the baths as attestation of immunity), great to be complemented by the recent negative PCR test for enhanced safety.
Kindly note that a valid photo ID is also needed that matches the vaccination/ immunity data on your digital or printed documents.
Have a great winter break in Budapest!
