Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

      Hello Annika,
Currently, providing the proof about one shot / 1 vaccine is satisfactory, but regulations might change, therefore we recommend you check a few days before the spa visit, and aim to sort out the 2nd jab of vaccination asap for a further peace of mind when it comes to international travel / travelling to Hungary.

  2. Hi, should we have this us our ID’s or is the Covid Passport enough? Because we do not to carry many personal items on the spa despite the lockers you’re providing.

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Kate,
the ID might be also requested in order to verify your identity (to prove that the Covid passport is yours).
Thank you for your kind cooperation and understanding.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!

    Hi there,

We have proof of vaccination from Canada (Pfizer, 2 shots). Will we be able to enter the baths with our Canadian proof of vaccination or do we have to have the EU digital COVID certificate? Unfortunately we cannot get the EU digital COVID certificate as we were not vaccinated in the EU.

    Thanks,
    Alexandra

Hello Alexandra, yes, Canadian vaccination proofs are accepted.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!

  4. Hi, and do the covid vaccination rules also apply to children or are they exempt? And is the rule still that children are only allowed in the outdoor pools? Thank you!

Hello Akiko, children do not need the vaccination card, they can enter with a vaccinated parent.
The bath entry is free for children under 2 years old but older children have to pay full prices tickets.

Babies and toddlers can come with the family to the Spa but need to stay outside the pool area with somebody.

The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no kid’s pools or activities.
Most of the outdoor and indoor pools and baths are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters, therefore saunas and hot pools are not healthy for children under 14.
