Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Hello,

We have a PCR negative test, but no vaccination certificate. Are we allowed to book our tickets?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Catherine,

According to the current policy of admission at the Budapest thermal baths, Covid passports / vaccination certificates are accepted.
For a long term solution we suggest supporting the global vaccination efforts to keep various Covid virus variants at bay on a large scale.
Thank you for your contribution and help.

Have a great time in Budapest!

  2. Hi, if you are unvaccinated are negative test results required?

      Hi Chloe,

Unfortunately, unvaccinated visitors are not allowed to enter the baths.

  3. Hello,
is entry allowed with a negative PCR test as proof of no ongoing infectivity?

    Thank you.

      Hello Marketa,

If you have a valid Covid passport as proof of having been vaccinated on top of the negative PRC test, it would be ideal. Have you perhaps been already vaccinated?

  4. They will probably delete my comment. Don’t buy from this website. They are scamming you as you can buy the same tickets for half price on the bath website.

25 eur a ticket when you can get it for 15 Euro on the website

      Dear Angry Customer,

We are sorry that you feel disappointed with our services. There is an option to buy tickets on the door on the day of your visit, which – especially for Hungarian customers – may be much better off as paying in cash in Hungarian Forints is considerably cheaper than having to change to a different currency and adding the costs of transaction fees and administrative costs.

Comparing the original HUF ticket prices with the best EUR rates is not practical on google or MNB.hu, the National bank rates as Budapest attractions do not convert exchange rates at bank rates unfortunately due to various factors (among them the extra financial and admin work charged). The ticket price also includes the VAT and the booking fee (handling fee), which is not added as a separate item on top of the ticket price. The third factor that increases the ticket price, besides less favourable changing rates and full inclusion, is the extra price of any related service on top of bath ticket sale, which includes various levels of customer service at a high level:
      – rebooking a date free of charge: the time and working hours added to changing the date of an entry for free of charge, if we are notified 72 hours in advance
      – cancelling a ticket free of charge (outside the range of 72h if the management allows, which is always a case by case issue)
      – additional information for customers: via personalised emails and comments (like your own)
      etc.

Kindly compare the online prices and quality of services of vendors of Szechenyi bath tickets, taking into account all aspects of the actual final price and level of customer service.
If you should have any further complaints please contact us via email at info [at] szechenyispabaths [dot] com.

  5. Hello,

We are afraid to bring our personal items with us in the baths. Can we have the covid passport and the ID cards in a photo in our mobiles as we are just tourists?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

Hello Katrina, please bring the actual proof of vaccination.

You can select tickets with lockers or with cabins (cabins are changing cubicles basically).
The locker tickets are somewhat cheaper.
If you choose tickets with lockers, you can get changed in the public men only and women only changing rooms and store your belongings in the lockers. Lockers are closed with the wristband provided upon arrival.

The cabin is like a tiny room where you can get changed and store your belongings.
The cabin size is approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop and the door has a unique chip code lock, which opens and closes with a special waterproof bracelet: in fact, with the chip incorporated in the wristband bath entry provided at the bath. Please make sure that your door is locked with the silicon wristband before leaving the cabin. As you are wearing the band all the times, it is quite secure if you make sure that the door is not left open.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!
