Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Chaya,

Unfortunately not. Kindly note that the current policy of admission at the Budapest thermal baths, only Covid passports / vaccination certificates are accepted.
For a long term solution we suggest supporting the global vaccination efforts to keep various Covid virus variants at bay on a large scale.
Thank you for your contribution and help.

Have a great time in Budapest!

  5. Hi we would like to visit on the weekend. Is a vaccination confirmation enough or do we need a PCR test too and how old should it be?

    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards,
    Veronika

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

Hello Veronica, yes, the proof of vaccination is fine (according to the actual regulations).
Hopefully, it remains like this for the next few days.

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Veronika,

According to the current policy of admission at the Budapest thermal baths, Covid passports / vaccination certificates are accepted regardless of its date of issuance. That said, if your Covid passport has a date of expiry, it might be a problem. It is always recommended to have a thorough PCR test – just in case – every 3-6 months, especially when travelling across the globe.
Thank you for your contribution and help.

Have a great time in Budapest!

Mondays, Tuesdays are less busy than the weekends. Most guests are arrive in the early afternoon hours, therefore if you arrive around 9 or 10 am there is a chance that the baths will be less busy. I hope this helps.
