Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.
Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.
The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.
Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

Do you need foot wear? If so how much
Hi Alison,
Flip-flops/slippers are required to be worn in the whole area of the bath. If you do not have your own, you can buy a pair in the entrance hall shop.
For further information on what to take with you, please have a look at the following link: What to take to Szechenyi Baths
Thank you.
Hello
I am trying to make a booking for Saturday 8 August 2020 but it’s not possible. Are you closed this day?
Thank you
Philly
Dear Philly,
Thank you for your comment. Sziget Music Festival will be held this year from 5th-11th August. During this time, no online Fast Track ticket will be sold. During the festival, the city attracts half a million extra tourists, which makes online fast track tickets to Szechenyi Baths and Gellert Spa simply non-fast track and ticket holders are often held back in the – otherwise peaceful and benign – crowds gathering around the entrances.
Waiting Time
Unfortunately, long queues will likely form in the sun. To avoid the queues the best time to check-in (strongly recommended) is between 9 am and 11 am, or between 5 and 6 pm (not later than 6 pm), depending on what services you booked.
Should you have more questions, please contact us.
Hello,
We are three people but only two of us would like to swim in the baths. Is it alright for the third person to come with us without paying?
Hello Aorati,
Thank you for question.
Please kindly note that visiting the bath is unfortunately not possible without paying the entry fee. What might be a budget friendly option if you visit the bath later in the evening (from 7 pm) when a 3-hour ticket can be purchased at a lower price than a daily ticket.

Have a wonderful time in Budapest!
Hello
I have a ticket for tomorrow (access and cabin, bought at BGYH). Can we access anytime or before 17:30?
Thank you
Dear Ana,
Check-in for online bought tickets is between 9 am and 5.30 pm, so you can arrive anytime.
Have a great time in the Spa.
can a couple use a private cabin together?
Dear Emily,
Yes, if you take turns you can share a cabin (it might be a bit tight to change there together). You can also store your belonging there as well.
Have a great day.
I have read on a booking site that the spa is closed from Wednesday, 25 to Sunday, 29 March, 2020. I am arriving in Budapest on 25th and wanted to visit the spa. Can you confirm that the spa is closed or is this an error ?
Are caps compulsory at the baths?
Dear Pratham,
Thank you for your question.
We would like to inform you that swim caps are mandatory in the swimming pool, but not in the other 17 pools of Szechenyi Baths.
Have a great time in Budapest!
