Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

Budapest Spa Party / Sparty

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

      Dear Santosh,
      Thank you for your enquiry.
The basic entry does not include any foods or drinks (there is an upgraded option for the exclusive relaxation zone, where fruits and some drinks are also included per the product description). However, regular bath entries do not include any of this option. You can bring your own food and eat it at the dedicated areas, cafeteria terrace, for example (but not at any other area, e.g. in or by the pools it is prohibited to eat anything).
We have sent you an email with more details.
Have a great time in Budapest and enjoy your bath visit!

  2. Hi , some questions,

How long can you stay in the pool/ spa , is there a time limit? Or is the tickets for a day?

Is a swimming cap still required in the swimming pool?
What ticket is required if you just want to swim in the different pools and borrow beach towels.
Are there fewer people on Sundays and Mondays than Friday and Saturday.?

    • SzechenyiBath.com

      Dear Monica,
      Thank you for contacting us.
There is no strict time limit for how long you can stay in the pool or spa areas. Your full day ticket grants you access for the entire day.
Swimming cap is only required if you wish to swim in the cool-watered sports pool designated for lap swimming
We have sent you an email with further details.
Have a great time at the Baths!

  3. Hi, we are coming to Budapest on Friday and wanted to visit the spa on either Saturday or Sunday, Please can you advise if this can be pre-bookable as I cant find any information. Please also advise if we have to bring our own towels, flips flops.

    • SzechenyiBath.com

      Dear Rash,

Thank you for reaching out regarding your visit to the Szechenyi Baths.

Towel rental is, unfortunately, no longer available at thermal baths in Budapest. The only exception to this, is the exclusive rooftop Palm House (Dayspalm) package where a towel and a bathrobe are part of the add on specialty entry.

      Flip flops
Inside the baths at the pool areas ‘bath footwear’ is required (typically, waterproof slippers or flip flops): it is mandatory for health and safety reasons.
Beach shoes / aqua shoes are also accepted, strictly outside the pool waters though (kindly take them off before entering the pools).

Regarding your visit during the Easter period, we have sent you more details.

Have a lovely stay at the Baths!

  4. hi we are planning on visiting on the 9th of May. can i ask if any of the thermal pools will be under maintenance or closed at this time?

    • SzechenyiBath.com

      Dear Vicent,

Thank you for your question regarding the Szechenyi Baths thermal pools.

Kindly note that the cold-water outdoor swimming pool is currently undergoing restoration, which may still be ongoing on the day of your visit.

The rest of the Szechenyi Bath, including over a dozen pools, the other outdoor and indoor thermal pools, as well as various steam rooms and saunas, will remain open and fully accessible.

Enjoy your time at the Baths!
