What is the Difference Between Cabins and Lockers? – Szechenyi Bath FAQ

Tourists visiting Szechenyi Spa Baths are often puzzled by the various tickets: there are separate prices of entry for tickets with lockers and tickets with cabins. But what is a cabin in Szechenyi Baths and what is a locker? Do you need them at all?

Well, first of all, there are no plain tickets without a locker or a cabin.

Secondly, both lockers and cabins are for storing your belongings while you are enjoying the indoor baths and outdoor pools at Szechenyi Baths. Lockers are standard wardrobe type boxes with a lock on them (like the ones at train stations or at standard swimming pools). The size of the locker is 120x30x65 cm (1200 x 300 x 650 mm).

Cabins, on the other hand, are smallish changing rooms combined with storage facilities. In a bath cabin, you can get changed privately AND store your items in a safe place.

The cabin comfortably accommodates one person, so if you are a couple it might seem a bit tight, but you can take turns in getting changed (of course, the same applies to families or smaller groups too). As cabins take up more space and ensure your privacy, bath entries with cabin use (or more precisely, cabin hire) are more expensive than simple lockers. If you buy the cheaper bath entries with lockers, you will have to get changed in the women-only / men-only public changing rooms, and then store your bags in the lockers. If you wish to have your own privacy or are shy, cabins are definitely an ideal solution. Regular swimming pool goers will be fine with the lockers we assume.

  1. I’m planning to visit the Szechenyi Baths next month with my boyfriend. Since we’re two and we would like to book a ticket with cabin, do we need to buy 2 tickets with cabin? Or instead buy a ticket with cabin and another with locker? but then again, we wont use a locker if we get a cabin… What is your suggestion?

    Thank you for your help.

  2. Hello
I plan to visit the baths on Wednesday 11th January.
Is there only a full day ticket, or is there half day option too?

Also, can I wear a bikini or must I wear a full swimsuit?

    Thankyou

  3. Hi, I will be traveling with a friend and both of us will have carry-on sized suitcases. Should we both purchase the tickets with cabins? Or is there somewhere safe we can store our luggage without doing the cabin?

  4. Hi, on your price guide it says Cabin ticket at Szechenyi Baths for 500 huf. What does that include? Thank you very much.

  5. if buy 2 ticket with cabin, is it means we have 2 cabin to use? why the above comment said have to take turn to go in the cabin? since buying ticket alone is not possible?

      Hello Yap,
it is not possible to but tickets without some kind of storage (locker or cabin).
If you are buying 2 cabins, it means that both of you will have a private cabin.
If you wish to save some euros, we are suggesting to buy 1 ticket with cabin and 1 with locker, so you can share the private cabin (the price difference is approx 2 Euros).
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!

  6. Hello, Is the cost same for 6 year old child as well? Would the cabin be able to store a large suitcase? How much time typically is suggested to enjoy the baths?

      Dear Mili,
unfortunately, there are no children or student tickets at Szechenyi Spa Baths, only full-priced adult tickets.
As the thermal waters are not recommended for younger children, we kindly invite you to read our FAQs about children in the baths:
      https://szechenyibath.com/can-children-go-to-szechenyi-baths-szechenyi-bath-faq/
The cabin size is approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop, so you can leave there the 20 kg suitcase as well ( if it is a regular size) along with your jackets etc.
We suggest enjoying the hot pools for about 30-40 min periods for one with breaks.
      Enjoy your stay in Budapest!
