Szechenyi Baths Cabin

The term ‘Szechenyi Bath cabin’ is used for changing rooms and storage rooms at Szechenyi Baths, in other words the cabins at Szechenyi Baths are private changing cabins, where you can, in your own privacy get changed and store your belongings.

Another option is to use the common changing areas and lockers for your items to be locked up.

Szechenyi Bath Ticket  – Cabin Use
The tickets to the bath can be purchased with ‘cabin use’, or with lockers. The cabin is an extra service on behalf of Szechenyi Baths (plus they take up a lot of room), so the tickets with cabins are approx. (depending on the actual currency rates) 3 Euro more expensive than the standard bath tickets, which include a locker by default. It is up to you if you want to have a more upgraded service at Szechenyi Bath or you are fine with the cheaper bath tickets, which do not include the use of a cabin.

You can also buy your ticket to the Szechenyi Baths online and save some time (not having to stand in the queue, which in summer time or during major holidays, can mean 25-35 min waiting before you get to the cashier). Please note that the online ticket may cost a bit more, depending on packages, handling fees, inclusions, etc. than purchasing the tickets in person at the bath (subject to availability at all times). For buying your entry on the spot, kindly make sure to have Forints in your wallet or an acceptable card, e.g. Visa or Mastercard.

The cabins at Szechenyi Bath can comfortably take up 1 person, and a bit more tightly even a couple to get changed. However, if you wish to use the cabin as a couple or as a family, we suggest getting changed by taking turns.

You can see the photo of a bath cabin at Szechenyi Baths – closed doors, and what is behind the door. As you can see the cabin is not a spacious room, as it has been designed for getting changed for the pools, not for staying in. That said, as you can see, the cabin is large enough to accommodate a normal suitcase, so some guests who directly arrive from Budapest Airport to the Baths, or the other way around, take a taxi / shuttle from the thermal baths to Ferihegy Airport, will opt for storing their suitcase in the cabin, which is completely acceptable (for valuables you can pay for a small safety deposit box to have a peace of mind)

This is what a Szechenyi cabin looks like from the inside (clean, purposeful, nothing fancy, perfect for having your privacy while getting changed in the baths):

  1. If we are sharing one cabin as a couple, do we need to purchase one or two cabin tickets.

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Tom,
all tickets are sold with some kind of storage space.
Sharing a cabin is absolutely fine (for 2 guests you can buy 1x ticket with locker and 1x with cabin).
Please note that the cabin is not big enough for two people at a time, however, you can take turns to change.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!

    • Do the cabins have locks on them to store your stuff? If not, how big are the lockers?

      • Szechenyi Spa Baths

        Hello Allison,
        Thank you for contacting us.

Yes, you can get changed and, besides changing, you can also store your belongings in the cabin as the wrist band you will get has a special code as detailed below:

If you choose tickets with lockers, you can get changed in the public men only and women only changing rooms and store your belongings in the lockers. Lockers are closed with the wristband provided upon arrival.
The cabin is like a tiny room where you can get changed and store your belongings.
The cabin size is approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop and the door has a unique chip code lock, which opens and closes with a special waterproof bracelet: in fact, with the chip incorporated in the wristband bath entry provided at the bath. Please make sure that your door is locked with the silicon wristband before leaving the cabin. As you are wearing the band all the time, it is quite secure if you make sure that the door is not left open.

Please let me know if I can help more.
Have a lovely time in Budapest, Hungary.

  2. Kimberly Metzcus

If I have already purchased a ticket with a locker, but changed my mind and wanted to upgrade to a ticket with a cabin, is that possible and if it is, how do I change my ticket to secure a cabin?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Kimberly,
Thank you for your comment on our website.
The cabin upgrade has to be arranged in advance.

We are not able to find your reservation in our system, please contact the email address you received the confirmation from to make your upgrade.
      Kindest regards,

  3. Good a.m. I understand your spa closes at 8 PM is this correct?

when we get our cabin do we still get the free shoes towel and water/

If I bought say 24th. Can I use instead on the 25th?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Don,
Thank you for your inquiry with regard to the opening times.

Mon – Sat closing at 8pm, Sundays 9 pm.
The closing hours mean that the building closes down, so all pools and changing areas are cleared 15 min before the building closing hour.

There are no free shoes and towel and there has never been free shoes or free towel rental I’m afraid.
We suggest brining your own waterproof bath footwear and your own towel as there is only a buy on the spot option, no rental facilities are in operation.
The tickets are time stamped and, if bought on our website, can be changed minimum 72 hours before your planned visit (although we try to do our best to accommodate more last minute changes, there is no guarantee)

Have a great time in Budapest, Hungary.

  4. Dear team
a group of 8 are in Budapest 2/12 for the weekend and are planning to visit the baths. How busy are the baths in December and are you able to buy tickets on the day?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Carol,
December is usually busy, especially on the weekends. We recommend online tickets for groups but you can also buy them before arrival.
Have a lovely time in Budapest and enjoy Szechenyi Baths!

  5. Hi teams,

Would like to know, if we have 6 persons, can we purchase 1 with cabin and the rest without cabin and lockers?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Keeln,
Thank you for your comment on our website.
All tickets are sold with some kind of storage space (locker or cabin).
If you take tickets with cabins you can get changed and store your belongings in the cabin.
      Cabins
The cabin comfortably accommodates one person, so if you are a couple it might seem a bit tight, but you can take turns in getting changed. As cabins take up more space and ensure your privacy, bath entries with cabin use (or more precisely, cabin hire) are more expensive than simple lockers. If you buy the cheaper bath entries with lockers, you will have to get changed in the women-only / men-only public changing rooms, and then store your bags in the lockers. If you wish to have your own privacy or are shy, cabins are definitely an ideal solution.

The price difference between the cabin and locker tickets is €2 per ticket. You could buy 2x locker tickets and 2x with cabins in 2 separate transactions.
Please check if you have high transaction fees on your credit card as you could be charged more for the additional transaction than the actual price difference (2x €2).
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

  6. Hello,
I purchased a fast track-private cabin ticket online, does the ticket include to provide a towel and a pair of slipper? Or I need to purchase a towel and slipper separately.

    Thank you

    • SzechenyiBath.com

      Dear Shannon,
We recommend bringing your own towels, as rental services are suspended since the Covid pandemic.
You can purchase a towel on the spot: the fluffy towel makes a nice gift and serves as a keepsake towel embroidered with the Szechenyi Bath logo for HUF 6,000.
Alternatively, you can purchase a disposable towel at a fraction of the cost. For environmental reasons, as part of green tourism, we kindly ask you to consider bringing your own lightweight towel. Microfibre towels are reusable, super absorbing and ultra lightweight, suitable for carrying around the city.

Please note that slippers/flip-flops are also required to be worn, they are available from HUF 4,000.
Have a nice time in Budapest!
