Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Why is the price listed as 44 Euros on one website (https://szechenyibath.com/open/) while the Fast Track option on the website szechenyibath.hu is showing 37 Euros?

    • Dear Sri,

Thermal bath tickets vary widely in price and features depending on whether they are purchased online or on-site, online with which vendor / website with different T&C. The type of ticket selected (e.g., weekday vs. weekend, cabin vs locker, fast track vs plain etc.) also define the costs. Tickets on sale offer additional perks like a QR code for faster entry, Fast track for skip the line.

Tickets may or may note include free date changes (on szechenyibath.com), priority admin for faster information or additional assistance, and access to a gastro cellar, which may not be available through all sites.

Your tickets include option for date change / transfer to another person / can be turned into open date voucher (e.g. if travel plans change), priority admin, handling fee (not shown separately but included), Gastro Cellar tasting, besides the entry, a changing cubicle, full day bath access with a single pass, chip equipped bracelet / wrist watch to lock the cabin / cubicle.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or we can be of further assistance.

      Enjoy your stay in Budapest!

  2. On 14th October, we booked tickets for a group of 7, including 3 children aged 8, 10, and 11. Are there any pools open for kids to access, as I noticed maintenance updates on your website?

    • SzechenyiBath.com

      Dear Sri,

      Thank you for contacting us.

During maintenance works on Oct 14th the following outdoor pool will be closed to visitors:

The remaining part of the bath palace, including over a dozen pools, the outdoor lap pool and 12+ indoor thermal pools as well as further steam rooms and saunas will stay open.

There are 3 pools outside, out of which, two can be visited by families where the children are under 14: the whirlpool thermal pool (34 degrees Celsius) and the lap swimming pool (not the 3rd pool with a hotter temperature, which will be closed on Oct14).

  6. PANAGIOTIS MAVRONAS

    Good day,
We (my wife and I) are from Corfu (Greece) and we will be in Budapest on December 30th and 31st. I saw on tourist sites that there is no place in the Széchenyi baths these days. I would like you to let me know if there is another way to visit the Széchenyi Baths and have this very beautiful experience from your city.
    Thank you very much.
    With appreciation
