Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.
Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.
The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.
Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

Hi.
Are there showers available for use after bathing?
Thanks.
Dear Glen,
Thank you for contacting us.
Yes, there are showers and hair dryers nearby the dressing rooms (gender separated).
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Bath!
I am curious to know if any of your baths or pools are single gender? If so, is expected for patrons to be naked at all times in single gender areas?
Dear Mark,
Thank you for contacting us.
At the moment, all bathhouses are coed, but Rudas baths offers men only and ladies only weekdays.
Guests can wear aprons.

Hello.. What hours does the bath operate? I will be visiting for maybe half an hour one evening on September 6-7. Can I check in while I’m there without making an appointment? Thank you, hope to see you.
Hello Orçun,
Thank you for your comment.
The bathhouse is open from 7 am to 8pm (check in with online tickets from 9am to 5pm).
We recommend spending at least 4 or 5 hours inside the baths to relax and try different pools and saunas.
You can show up and buy entries upon arrival at the afternoon hours.
Enjoy your holiday in Budapest!
I like to pre-book a Private Spa Experience in Deluxe Room – including 45 minute couples massage for my wife and I on September 12. When is the earliest that I can book this? Also if I book a 14:00 – 18:00 spa, are we able to use the various baths prior to or after the session as part of Private Spa experience. Thank you for responding to this message.
Dear Boris,
Thank you for contacting us about your plan to reserve a massage in the thermal bath.
We have emailed you with further details.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Bath!
