Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  6. Don’t waste your time nor money! Horrible experience and no one will help you at all.

    – Several missing and loose floor tiles and a broken pool plastic drain which could cause major injuries
    – Poor signaling makes it difficult to navigate the area
    – No proper showers to rinse and area to get ready before leaving
    – ‘Out or Order’ facilities which were not communicated about beforehand
    – Dirty robes with brown stains
    – Poorly cleaned common areas and cabins full with stains and dirt
    – Broken toilet cap, rubbish bin and locker on women’s toilet
    – Salad bowl with fruits which were either not very fresh, not kept under proper conditions, and/or not prepared according to proper hygiene standards making my boyfriend sick and ruining our evening plans. Very greedy management who charge high prices and don’t invest in the maintenance and improvement of the business.

    – All cocktails included but Long Island, which was exactly the one my boyfriend would like to have. There were no mentions about the exclusion anywhere

    – Chased twice at the end by one of the staff because of towels and bath robe that we left in the cabin and returned on 2nd floor who was rude and sarcastic, despite no instructions being given about what to do with them

We want our $50,000 back for the extreme poor service and disregard towards customers.

    • Dear Nicole,

Thank you for sharing your bath experience with us. We are sorry to hear that you found the bath lacking in certain areas. As we wrote yesterday in our email to you, you will be asked to contact the official customer service with your complaint. Leaving multiple comments and reacting to other commenters will slow down rather than expedite the process. The first comment has been approved on the website while the rest of the same comments – with the same or similar content – has been deleted. Kindly stop resending the same / similar comment as the system will flag your message as a spam.

Please double check our response sent to you yesterday (please check the spam folder of your mailbox too).
We assume that you have paid in Hungarian Forint. The amount claimed back is over HUF 17 million in your email and comment, which we think is more likely that this sum is in Forint currency (HUF 50,000 is approx. $145-155 depending on the card or payment platform you used).
Kindly forward the original booking confirmation which shows the paid amount, along with your complaint in order to help the customer service team identify your exact booking, date of visit, payment ID etc.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We have forwarded your complaint to the official customer service of Szechenyi Bath. Due to the festive period, please kindly allow 4-6 weeks for the complaint to be processed.
At this point there is no more help we can offer as all administrative process goes through various channels, and requires managerial attention and approval per the Bath policy.

Thank you for your valuable feedback again.

    • Darn, sorry to hear this. I actually made a reservation to come here in, hoping we don’t regret it. Already they told me I will not be refunded for my son’s portion . He broke his collarbone and cannot travel but that’s not a good enough reason for them :(
