Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.
Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.
The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.
Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

BOOKINGLast updated on Oct 11, 2024
Hi we want to book tickets for the week 2nd to 8th January 2024 is it sold out or closed or can we book on the day?
Hello Karen,
Thank you for getting in touch.
Please kindly check your emails, we have sent you an email about the festive period in the Baths.
We hope you have a great time visiting Budapest!
hello
I would like to come on the 4th January when visiting for my husbands birthday. is the spa closed? I can’t book on your site
Dear Laurs,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Kindly note that no online pre-booked tickets are available for the holiday season, tickets will be only available on the spot (From Dec 21 to Jan 7).
The baths will be open during the festive period and the previous year’s experiences it is generally the busiest period of the year.
Tickets will be available exclusively upon arrival to avoid guests standing there with pre-booked tickets and unable to check in (in case the baths get full entering is on a 1in -1 out basis).
Waiting time can take up to 30-60 minutes.
I hope this makes sense.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
I was hoping to visit the facilities between 27 to 30th of December 2023 but unfortunately there are no tickets online. Are there any tickets you can buy at the spa on the day?
Hello Lefki,
Thank you for your interest.
The baths will be open during the holiday season however, tickets will be available exclusively upon arrival from Dec 21st -Jan 7th.
Waiting time can take up to 30-60 minutes. The festive periods are normally very popular. Since the arrival time of the guests is always unpredictable, long queues can build within minutes. This is the reason why pre-booked, expedited ticket options are not available to avoid complaints/refund requests in case someone could not enter.
Thank you for your kind understanding.
Have a lovely Christmas holiday in Budapest!
How far in advance can I book spa massage tickets? Is there a minimum age as will be travelling with 2 almost 16 year olds. Thanks
Hi I am planning to get a reservation between 30th December and 4th January . Does the spa open or is fully booked . Can’t see any availability. Thanks in advance
