Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.
Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.
The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.
Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

We will be in Budapest in November 17-19. Is Gellert still open? If not, is your spa open at that time and it closes at 8 pm every night? We heard that there will be renovations happening. Thank you!
Dear Av,
Thank you for your comment.
Gellert spa will close for renovations most probably this October. Sincs the starting date has been postponed several times we recommend you check our website 2 weeks before your arrival for updates.
Have a nice time in Budapest!
Hello I will be there on September 9th. Would like to know if this ticket of 39 EUR is ok for the night party. Thanks
Ciao Michele,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Daytime
For the daytime visit, you can pre-book your tickets or buy them upon arrival.
There will be a Spa Party on Sep 9:
On Saturdays, the bathhouse closes as usual at 8 pm and then re-opens for the Spa Party. Sparty tickets are sold separately, they are more expensive than daytime tickets.
Tickets are usually sold out days in advance, therefore we recommend you pre-book your entries.

Wanting to go on the 11th August Friday – how do I get tickets ? As I Cannt book online do I just show up to the baths to get ticket?
Dear Janne,
Thank you for your inquiry.
The baths will be open during the Sziget Festival week. From the previous year’s experiences, the baths will be crowded.
Tickets will be available exclusively upon arrival to avoid guests standing there with pre-booked tickets and unable to check in (in case the baths get full entering is on a 1in -1 out basis).
Waiting time can take up to 30-60 minutes.
I hope this makes sense.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Have a nice time in Budapest!
Hi, we booked online tickets to use the baths for Monday the 14th from this vendor “ Budapest Gyógyfürdői és Hévizei Zrt.” Is this a legitimate vendor, as when I check your website you can’t book for this date.
Thanks Robbie
