Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.
Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.
The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.
Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

BOOKINGLast updated on Jan 6, 2025
hi.
payment has been taken out of my bank account for 4 x private change rooms and fast track tickets, but I have not received a confirmation email.
Hello Trudy,
Thank you for your letting us know, we have emailed you: it seems there was a typo in the email address provided (missing the last character).
Have a nice time in Budapest and enjoy the thermal spa pools!
i would like to visit on friday. Do you sell swimcaps and slippers there?
Hello Atle,
Swimming caps are required only in the outdoor swimming pool (not needed in the 15 indoor pools or the 2 outdoor thermal pools).
Slippers are available for HUF 4,000 but if you can bring your own it is more environment friendly and more affordable. Unfortunately, towel rental has been suspended since the pandemic so we suggest bringing your own light weight quick dry towel (or buy one on the spot, which can be a keepsake too)
Have a nice weekend in Budapest and enjoy the thermal waters!
I would like to cancel the private pool spa / massage session on 18.06.23 2-6pm.
Name Durrant
We are coming but have decided to do buy all day spa tickets.
Dear Jenny,
we have sent you an email, thank you for contacting us.
In your confirmation email there is a contact email address for any follow up issues (as there are multiple vendors of Szechenyi Bath tickets this contact email may be different from our address). Please kindly contact the email asap (we have also sent you more detailed information in our email).

Hi,
Is it shut from the 8-17th of August? Or is it just that tickets are not available to be booked online? As we are in Budapest during this time and were hoping to visit.
Thanks!
Hannah
Hello Hannah,
Thank you for your inquiry about Szechenyi Bath.
The baths will be open during the Sziget Festival week. From the previous year’s experiences, the baths will be crowded.
Tickets will be available exclusively upon arrival to avoid guests standing there with pre-booked tickets and unable to check in (in case the baths get full entering is on a 1in -1 out basis).
Waiting time can take up to 30-60 minutes.
I hope this makes sense.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
