Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.
Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.
The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.
Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

Hello Jose,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Ticket sale is stopped for the Sziget Festival period: Aug 8-17
Tickets will be available exclusively on the spot and we expect a lot of visitors therefore the waiting time can take up to 1-1.5 hours.
Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
Hello is it cumpolsury to have slippers on the feet. Is it possible to rent? Regards Jessica
Hello Jessica,
slippers are mandatory to be worn inside the baths.
Unfortunately, rental is not available but you can purchase flip flops for appr. HUF 4,000.
Hi
Can I rent the Towel or we need to bring our own ?
Is there rule on what cap, sleeper or anything specific to kind or short etc.
Thanks /M
Hello Mawi,
We recommend bringing your own towels, as rental services are suspended since the Covid pandemic.
You can purchase a towel on the spot: the fluffy towel makes a nice gift and serves as a keepsake towel embroidered with the Szechenyi Bath logo for HUF 6,000.
Alternatively, you can purchase a disposable towel at a fraction of the cost. For environmental reasons, as part of green tourism, we kindly ask you to consider bringing your own lightweight towel. Microfibre towels are reusable, super absorbing and ultra lightweight, suitable for carrying around the city.
Swimming cap is only required in the cold swimming pool but not the other pools.
Regular swimwear is allowed, please find our article about the dress code on this link:

Hi there! Are there all day tickets available for this Saturday?
Hello Ellen,
all online tickets are whole day tickets for any day.
You might make your booking online or buy entries upon arrival.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Bath!
Hi,
I will be traveling in June with my parents and my 6 years old son. Can he come with us? Are there pools that he can enjoy too? Or it’s restricted for adults only?
Hello Aneta,
thank you for checking before visiting Szechenyi Baths.
The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no different pricing for kids or students.
Only full price adult tickets are available in the spas ( and free for children under 2 years old).
There is no age restriction at the baths, however, please note that thermal waters for children under 14 are not recommended, but if the parents decide to come anyway at their own responsibility, they can.
As most of the outdoor and indoor pools are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters.
We recommend families with children visiting one of the open air lidos in Budapest, especially Palatinus Pools on Margaret Island and Dagaly Lido close to Arpad Bridge (north of Margaret Island).
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Is there any pre-booking of treatments available, or are those only available as drop-in?
