Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.
Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.
The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.
Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

Can you go to the spa and just go to the cafe?
Hello Megan,
unfortunately not.
Entering the baths is only possible with entry tickets and there are only full-day bath tickets or evening tickets for the last 2 hours before closing.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Baths!
are there any massage treatments available today, tomorrow or Tuesday? I’m here from 16 – 19 April
Dear Jera,
Thank you for getting in touch with us.
We have contacted you via email!
With a full day bath ticket for 7th May, would I be able to leave and re-enter for food? is there food on-site?
Hello Sim,
Thank you for your inquiry.
I am afraid entry tickets are single passes, so it is not possible to check in and come back later on the same day with the same tickets.
There is a cafeteria inside the baths if you get hungry or you might bring your own food in plastic containers as no glass items are allowed inside for health and safety reasons.
Have a nice time at Szechenyi Baths!
Dear team, we are planning to attend your spas as a group, but one of our friends is 5 months pregnant and has been advised she should not go in the spa.
Would she be able to get in with us without being charged for the spas, since she won’t be using them? Or is there a dedicated ticket for these circumstances?
Thank you,
Hello Joao,
Thank you for checking before visiting the baths.
Unfortunately, a regular ticket has to be purchased for her as well.
She can stay outside the pools but she will need to change her clothes as well (slippers and bathing clothes, perhaps a bathrobe).
Thank you for your kind understanding.
Hi, my husband and I are landing in Budapest in 5/18/23. We want to try your Bath house. I would like to book skip the line entry and massage combo. I see that online booking is unavailable. Could I get some information on how to book a combo ticket? Thank you.
Dear guest,

Hello,
I would like to gift a massage at the Szechenyi baths to a couple that will be visiting the baths on May 30th. However, I am unable to book a massage on the website. Please could you let me know if it is possible to book a massage in advance, and what are the options for the same ? Thank you.
Hello Anushka,
we have contacted you via email.
Good morning,
Would we be required to arrive at 9am or can we turn up anytime between 9am – 5pm please?
Hello Rhiannon,
guests might arrive anytime after 9 am to enjoy the baths.
We recommend you spend at least 3 or 4 hours and try different pools and saunas, and take your time to relax.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Bath!
