Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.

Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

BOOKINGLast updated on Jan 6, 2025
Hello,
We will be visiting Budapest from 6 till 10 February, 2023. Booking was made via Voyage Privé. We received a voucher (in Dutch) for the Széchenyi baths. Do we still need to make a booking online, or can we just present the voucher on the entrance, on the evening we would like to visit the baths?
Looking forward to a swift answer.
Kind regards.

Hi,
We are coming this weekend. Just wanted to ask do we have to book tickets in advamce or we can buy it on spot and also, my mum would be with us who will not go in the pools but she will just sit and chill while we enjoy the spa. So, do you guys have any seating area for people not taking part in spa.
Hello Nadia,
we recommend pre-booking your tickets, however, entries are also available on the spot.
She can find benches where she could chill. Please note that she will also need to change clothes and wear slippers inside the baths.
Please note that an entry ticket has to be purchased for her too.
In Hungary, thermal waters are also enjoyed by the elderly population in case she changes her mind.
Since Szechenyi Baths is located at the City park she could also find some interesting places and museums in the nearby area (such as the Museum of Fine arts or the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden.
Enjoy your stay in Budapest!
